He’s gone from being the Dees “most likely” (young key forward) (in Knightmare phantom drafts) to “please JT, do not consider”.  Given our recent draft recruitment of young key forwards has been generally unfulfilling.

If our recruiting team continue on with this mindset then why bother ever drafting a key forward again?

Gotta back JT's team in that eventually we'll actually recruit a future key forward who'll go and play a 10 year career for the Dees.

Remember it also comes down to our development and coaching team. At the end of the day it's up to them to develop the player. The recruitment team just picks them.

I'm personally not a fan of Jefferson myself but that shouldn't stop us looking at other options like a Phoenix Foster or Harry Lemmey who I rate much the Jefferson.

Compare his highlights to phillipou. I agree that Jefferson looks a long way off. Phillipou looks much more robust. I'd be trading up to make sure we get him. Contested marking and kicking them from 55.

We need more mature support alongside JVR in his first few years. If tmac or BBB dont come up we absolutely need to pick up one of around 4 or 5 good KPPs that are free agents next year. Another junior burger doesnt help us while we are contending now

Sure but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t be looking for another developing “junior burger”, as you put it, in the draft.

Highlights from a player some have around our part of the draft.

First minute is from his 7 goal game vs WA.

Didn’t know Melbourne had so many recruiters that weren’t actually employed by the club going off this thread 😂😂

They are all experts...

What have I missed, in that highlights package he looks good. I read earlier in the thread he avoids the contest but he seems to take plenty of contested marks, also kicking them from various angles.

He looks a bit laconic in general play but brave in the air

One of those words that mean something completely different to what many people incorrectly assume.

Laconic definition:  Using as few words as possible; pithy and concise. The definition of laconic refers to someone who doesn't talk a lot or uses very few words.

I'll have to adjust my draft rankings

There has to be something in the Harry Lemmey story that we don’t know about. Touted as a top five pick before the season started and now outside everyone’s top 40.

Takes most of his marks clean and on the reach but not many if under any form of body pressure. Does not mean he cant but nothing that I see there would give me confidence in his body on body work.

A recent draft recruit by the initials of JVR might be OK and better than unfulfilling.

Big Pass, nothing in those highlights says he is got the mongrel to be a player.

You're ruling him out as a player based on 2 minutes of loosely brought together junior highlights?

Easier trading up than said.

Yes Docs  some D/Lers have got very short memories OR selective choice overruling the JT record for recruitment.

Yes Weid was not  tick but Jesse was largely successful.

JVR is being willed as our next best forward yet JT can't be trusted to select the next best option available!!

Strange bedfellows some D/Lers. Of course we are all experts and we want a finished product hot off the draft ! No Casey training and improvement or Choco kicking school. Must just about kill his opposition and kick 55m both feet  .  Oh and no West Australians please they miss the family dog too much.

Again JT we trust in the draft and often up trading in selections for our benefit.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
