This is the bloke we want but we can’t get to him.

Interesting indeed.

Makes sense why we're trying to sneak up a couple of spots?

With so many what ifs still to play out I really hope we just have our list ordered based on player with the highest ceiling and required work ethic and confidence to maximise. If someone slips to a position twice as late as we rated ie: 3rd there at 6, 4 at 8, 5 at 10 etc try to slide up rather than hope they slide through. Then use a similar scenario at from 20 onwards for pick 2. It’s clear not every club will consider but I assume we know the ones worth picking up the phone to at the right time. Use the second pick go for list need to take a tall with forward potential or a runner if we did not take that type with our first.

Was that the one you were referring too? Watching that left me confused. The near out of bounds on the full from 40 metres out directly in front, then the shot on goal from basically top of the goal square and hits the post, then his last attempt he shanks one over the man on the mark and doesn’t even make the distance. Nothing that really stood out in his general play. This highlights package is actually embarrassing for a potential top ten draft pick.

In these highlights he takes a couple of nice marks and slots through a couple of goals, looks better in general play but hardly elite disposal but overall a better highlights package.

I then read Cal Twomey’s latest phantom draft and he has him going at 6, Humphrey stormed into being a top-10 lock in the final six weeks of the season, when he came back from a mid-year knee injury to dominate for Gippsland Power.

That’s all well and good but if we’re going to have comparisons about other players dominating at junior level what about his? Why do we read nothing about him dominating at the U18 championship. In the above two clips there’s only really the one clip of him at the championships running in and kicking a goal. But then there’s this.

Nothing there really to say he’s a top 6 pick. Again we can only assume these were the biggest games he played in.

As we know club recruiters have been tracking these kids for years, that being said if he’s as good as everyone says he is, where’s the footage of him dominating at the U18 championship. Would love to see a link if anyone has one.

Don’t suppose you’re a Kiwi Demonstone….. not that there is anything wrong with that.

Ain’t nothing wrong with being a Kiwi. Queenstown is gods country.

@Bombay Airconditioning, Humphrey missed a chunk of the year (including the majority of Champs) with injury.

Started the year well as a mid fwd regularly getting 20 touches and kicking multiple goals. Showed power and acceleration and a long, but sometimes wayward kick.

Was probably looking like a 2nd rd prospect, but once he came back post champs he went on a tear, notching up multiple good games in the NAB League. Footage from these games can be a bit sketchy, and for some reason the Champs finale footage hasn’t made it into any of the highlights clips (maybe a Fox Footy rights thing). Humphrey looked dangerous throughout, showed his power and kicked a nice goal on the run, but missed a few set shots. That’s the knock. His kicking needs more polish, but he has weapons and he is a great kid. Great character.

Am I the only one that sees a little bit of Dusty here? The power, lateral movement, 1v1s and the general creativity is similiar. Dusty was also a pretty loose kick when he started...

I don’t agree on Dusty’s kicking, could use both feet and be super smooth. Makes mistakes because he’s high risk/reward

But Humphrey is in that mold as a super powerful, evasive and creative mid/forward. His power bursts through the screen, not sure what people lamenting his highlights are watching.

Probably most similar to De Goey but without the off field drama.
