It’s a sign that the club really really really see JVR as part of the future.   And want him to stay no matter what the two western Australian teams throw at him in years to come !!

Great to see Smithy wearing his old man's jumper.

I can (just) tolerate JVR moving number because he never played in 21.

But Smith moving from 44 to 29 grates my gears.

Yes, 29 was his dad's number. So what. Make 44 your own, Joel!

Is 7 years before changing numbers some sort of record?

People changing numbers doesn't phase me, although I personally would stuck to the 1st number given to me.

Having said that stoked to see Rooey in Twoey! #FreeRoo

You already have half of them wrong. Grundy is 6, Hunter is 12, Schache is 19 and Farris-White is 47. Interesting to see what numbers Jefferson, Adams, Verrall and Sestan are.

From todays announcement, got 5/8 for the new players. If only I’d seen Hunter in 12 as you had noted it’s be 6/8.

Great to see JVR get #2.  I’m sure Stephen May #1 will get into JVRs ear about what defenders try to do. What a better mentor could you wish for.

The Power’s Robbie Gray changed from 17 to 9 in his 7th season after his knee reconstruction

Sometimes players have lots of injuries in a particular jumper number think by changing the number they might get a better run with injuries, yes players are superstitous.

New Demon numbers:

2 – Jacob van Rooyen (from No.21)

6 – Brodie Grundy

12 – Lachie Hunter

19 – Josh Schache

21 – Matt Jefferson

26 – Jed Adams

28 – Will Verrall

29 – Joel Smith (from No.44)

38 – Oliver Sestan

43 – Kyah Farris-White

Loving the confidence of young JVR to want to take on the famous #2 - will be nice to see that special jumper back out on the ground

Have a sneaky feeling that our new #26 might impact sooner than some think - his draft footage was very impressive, looks like he has good disposal, can take a mark, capable at both ends of the ground

apparently brayden maynard has taken grundys 4, he would've been at pies for longer than 7 years right?

Verrall is now listed at 200 cms tall.

Assuming Farris-White is not stooping, either Verrall has grown, or Farris-White is not 206 cms. There doesn't seem to be 6 cms difference in their heights. Also Verrall seems more than 4cms taller than Adams, so hopefully Verrall has grown. F-W and V are big boys. With those 2 and Scahche at 201 cms, we seem pretty ok in the ruck after Max and BG.

Whatever, we have certainly added some height to the list this year.

And I sing Hallelujah Redleg, I thought that we were exposed for lack of height coming into the finals this year.

But you are right poita come on MFC these kids and supporters want to see the List as it actually is for 2023.!!!

Another factor of the Tmac injury.

Height weight and strength and footy smarts missing with Tommy out!

But are you sure that’s not just a stage you’re going through?

Whether it is or isn’t, doesn’t faze me.😀

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
