Assuming Collingwood wins I’ll have a stab:

Thu night -  Fremantle V Bulldogs

Friday night - Geelong V Collingwood

Saturday twilight - Brisbane V Richmond

Saturday night - Dees V Swans

With regards to Thursday nights, they’re not afraid to put a blockbuster qualifying final on that night. In 2018 they had Richmond V Hawthorn so it’s not out of the realms of possibility we cop Thu night.

But if Collingwood lose we'll get Geelong v Brisbane, Melbourne v Sydney (or vice versa), Fremantle v Carlton and Collingwood v Richmond.

Question will be whether Geelong get first preference for finishing top, or whether the AFL want to put Collingwood v Richmond on the Friday night. If the latter, I think that means we will be Thursday night (8-day break for us into the semi final, so that there are no 6-day breaks).

My guess would be that the AFL would absolutely fixture Pies V Tiges on the Friday night as it would be the highest rating game on the highest rating night.

The AFL and channel 7’a desire will take priority over Geelong’s number 1 entitlements.

If the AFL gave the number one team preference on time and venue, we would’ve played Brisbane at the MCG last year in the qualifying final. Pert wanted our game at the G despite no crowds. The AFL said “no way.”

I think with all the Friday night games we have been given during these floating fixtures we might just be given it again. We must be getting good rating s for our games.

I'm sure I read somewhere that there will be no finals played at Kardinia Park this year due to the redevelopment of a large section of the stands and the subsequent limit on attendance.

you are correct no finals at the little school ground

Dees fans might not all go to games but I guarantee a massive number of them have great TVs.

If you want to fill in the gaps in Grapeviney's nice table regarding % and the Saints' score, just copy and paste the following into Google search to see the score Sydney has to get to beat our percentage:

For example, if the Saints have scored 80 points, then paste into the search field:

=1.30546190155091*(1542+80)-1979

that gives 138.459204316, so they need to score 139 points.  Replace 80 with whatever the Saints have scored as the match progresses.

Another option could be to just use the AFL app and the ‘live ladder’ function to see what is happening with ‘live’ ladder position / percentage movements during the actual game…..or am I missing something here?

BBP please don't spoil a good story with the mis truth!!

It was Covid which was the determining factor in Finals locations in 2021. Pert was only being cheeky knowing full well that the G was not going yo be used at all in the 2021 Finals Series.

Yes, but if you want to know 'what happens if the Saints kick the next 2 goals', the live ladder won't help you.

In a nutshell, if you are Sydney you'd aim to have a 10 goals differential just in case.

I know that's what I would do because the Saints at home can easily score 70+ points.

St Kilda will [censored] the bed and get pumped. Bookmark it.

Too bad St Kilda's match is the last one. They will already know the Bulldogs final score, so they could come to play really flat by that.

It will depend on how much Saints want to win the last game doubt they can make finals anyway

Satin versus Lucifer right there.

Is there a material difference?

This is gonna be tough. I live in Sydney and haven't been able to get to a Demons game since the couple of games we played at Homebush during Covid.

If Sydney finishes second, I'll be going to my first game for the season and my first Demons final ever.

Just a wild guess but I'd say your net worth is higher than mine.

Tx for posting this.

Can someone clear something up for me? Two wins, one is 100 to 70, the other is 80 to 50. Does the second one earn more %?

Yes

Points for/Points against x 100

100/70 x 100 =  142.8

80/50 x 100 = 160

Yeah that's what I thought. Cheers!

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
