Wtf did Petty do?

I didn't keep an eye on Petty in the first half but he did spoil two goals for Carlton in the second half... pretty handy!

Clarry's "lack of discipline" came after two centre bounces where he was blatantly blocked and held by Carlton's no. 43 (whomever he is). Yes, he shouldn't have responded the way he did, but FFS when will the umpires give Clarry the free kicks he deserves for this type of illegal manhandling off the ball?

Curnow might be the best forward in the game and he had the 1 mark and goal late which came from awful midfield defensive work from a stoppage and that was it for the game. I think it was Petty’s best pure defensive game of his career

Have to put Melk one, but Petty’s a worthy 2.

6 Angus Brayshaw

5 Jake Melksham

4 Max Gawn

3 Clayton Oliver

2 Jack Viney

1 Jayden Hunt

Honourable mentions;

Kysaiah Pickett

Christian Salem

Adjudication;

Despite the disparity of free kicks. forward fifty free kicks favoured the Blues. These are 'gold tickets' in close games. Fortunately Carlton's forwards couldn't  deliver.

Broadcasters;

Back to plan B contenders triumph pretenders sent packing.

Overall Comment;

Cathartic and season defining

Don't disagree as to why he was undisciplined but he needs to be better at evening up.  Gawn was blocked and held all night but still managed to play a composed and highly effective game.

Bit mystified by the praise heaped on Petty. May was much better. And I thought Gawn was outstanding. Brayshaw had a heap of disposals, but many of them were terrible.

May was excellent at times but had a couple of howler moments. Including the big gamble off McKay that gifted the goal and a smothered kick.

I liked Brayshaw’s game on Cripps around the ground.

People get angry on here when you question Gus’ disposals but it was his standard throw it on the boot and pray it works out. And whilst it wasn’t Salo’s finest moment Gus drilled a 15m kick that was nearly impossible to mark just to mix it up from the bombing

That's tough.

But yep I  forgot to name Petty.

I even suggested moving him to ff.

But rightly someone pointed out how many goals we would leak.

6- Brayshaw - clear BOG

5 -Petty - Just brilliant and only 21,

4- Melksham - Already said my mea culpa

3- Gawn - Amazing game, only stood out on replay

2- Viney - Love his strength.

Q-Tracc - Created and was his best game in 6 weeks.

Mentions:

Kozzie/Hunt/May/Oliver all stiff

Whole team contributed, awesome win that builds belief.

  • REPORT: Carlton

    I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

    The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

    A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
