Gee that was heartless from the umpire

Diabolically bad missed dropping the ball from Stevic, cost Saints a goal.

Right in front of him, as clear a decision as could be and he doesn’t pay it

They say he is one of the best 😂😂

That was everything that is so frustrating about inconsistencies in umpiring all wrapped up in five seconds of football.

Just garbage

Surely Stevic thought Clark got a bit of boot to ball, you can’t miss that otherwise right in front of you.

WTF the umpiring in this game is atrocious. Saints are being crucified! Freo player gets striped of the ball as he attempted to kick, incorrect disposal but no that’s play on, ball spills to Saints who takes ball, gets tackled but that’s holding the ball, free kick, then 50m for dissent. Freo kick goal to snuff out the game. Utter [censored] fro the umps and there have been 3 or 4 earlier howlers.

and very precious.

And Gillon wonders why they are not respected.

The only justification I can think of is that Stevic thought the ball hit the Freo player's boot.

To not pay that holding the ball otherwise is incredulous.

He was right to call holding the ball on Hill straight after, and then the dissent on Butler was probably there, but seriously, there's little to no chance the ball hit the Freo player's foot and 999 times out of 1000 you'd just pay holding the ball and move on.

Depends if you're optimistic about our run home or pessimistic.

If you're optimistic, you want St Kilda to win. Fremantle is a top 4 rival so we want to finish above them.

If you're pessimistic, and you're worried about us making finals, you want Fremantle to win. Puts St Kilda three games behind us in the run to the top 8.

If you're pessimistic you also want GWS to beat Port just to rule Port out (they'd be 5 games behind us with 6 to go).

Summed up your quintessential footy supporter ... both pessimistic & optimistic at the same time!

Top 8 starting to look pretty settled - not the order but the teams.  Saints not quite there, and Dogs look cooked.  GC$ just maybe an outside chance to squeeze in especially if they perform like today.

Maggot 20 was one of the key offenders in Adelaide last week, so of course he would given the match of the round on a Saturday night.

Reckon the crows should beat hawks today. Hawks in terrible form and lost key players

also tipping the bombers. 9 changes too many and the bombers might go on a run which will help us

The frenetic pace of this game, though!

 I’m knackered just watching it.

I'm sorry you're knackered WCW.

“Don’t come Monday”

The ol' DCM. I would add, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And don't even think about coming near Gosh's.

Not helpful that Tigers play Dockers at G in 2 weeks and have lost both rucks and Lynch.

We need a top 2 finish to guarantee home final, unless all Vic teams in top 4.

Of course we still need to make the top 4.

It’s not a matter of pessimism or optimism. Its more about the reality of the current situation. Freo are white hot and unrealistic to expect them to stumble. Currently we are equal to the Saints as the worst performed top 9 teams for the last 6 rounds and we have two games against sides that are still desperate to make finals and the rest are top 8. If we don’t improve we will slide rapidly down the ladder. If we improve and make top 4 then it’s a moot point. But as yet there no clear signs we can recapture our winning form and hunger so having a top 8 buffer is better for finals appearance chances. We are at the crossroads now and can’t afford a lame performance next week against Port which will be pumped up.  We need all the  helpful variables available to get out game back in order for a strong finals campaign.

Essendrug decides to play some decent footy when there is no pressure on them.

Marvellous, may it continue for years

Lions look well off. Serious half time talk required from Fagan

If Melbourne finish fourth we'll likely play Geelong(Ist) at the MCG in the QF. No difference finishing on top really.

Cant lose to Port or Dogs otherwise 5-8 looms. Knowing our luck we'd cop Sydney at the SCG. season over.

That's another new addition upon becoming a proper contender

We have a need to barrack for Essendon!! Ugh!

Essendon have this game won. Lions look horrible which is understandable losing almost half your team

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
