GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs Geelong

Featured Replies

May playing his worst ever game.  Defence looking shaky

Trying to break tackles

Too little talking

Stengle playing v well

Bedford outmanoeuvred twice

Salem missing targets

What's with our players getting tackled but disposing of the ball but getting pinged??

Pressure is huge. Cats are primed

Only 2 pts down. We can wear them down.

Viney, Harmes and May were all culprits that quarter is costing us goals and genuine turnovers.

So disappointing that these are supposed leaders who are letting us down.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Sparrow tried down back in future. Brings pressure, has pace, could play more lockdown potentially. We need his type down back IMO.

This is how Geelong have such a good home ground advantage. We seem so confused with the lack of space on wings. Everything is compressed and we can't play our regular game style.

Not really look at up the ground footage after a kick in you 1 or 2 cats players all by themselves in our forward line, and why do our forwards always start from behind?

Playing a switched on Cats on a narrow ground, take the first option to dispose of the ball please. Trying to break tackles and baulking the first tackler looking for a target is costing us.

Trying to play the Cats own precise  possession game instead of going long & direct once in the clear is costing us big time.

Once in the clear off HB and pressure closing, back your players up the field and go long.  The extra handball or short kick to another player under pressure is killing any momentum and also our forwards chances of winning any one on ones.

BB solid first quarter and much more involved.  Takes two contesteds on the wing, then goes back to assess but takes way too long.  Cats all flooded back.  Opportunity lost.  Move it on quickly inside 50 with a low raking kick towards a Maxy or Dogga and let the smalls go to work.

Who for

Stephen may cost us 2 goals. Looks unsure and not trusting his ability. I'd drop him for a week after this week.

Sparrow...talk to your f***** teammate (bowey) when under pressure ffs

The nuffyness is strong in the crowd. Good luck to all you brave dees fans for heading down

The Cats play their best football in the 2nd quarter so lets see if we can shut them down.

Dangerfield and the other muppets resting

HARMES.....OMG!

Handballs keep missing

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
