Hopeful Demon 1,541 Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 (edited) We're so lucky that Gawn's our captain. I knew he wouldn't be happy about the incident. It's refreshing to have a leader who doesn't refrain from expressing what he really thinks. Edited June 8, 2022 by Hopeful Demon 3 Quote

I would be on board for Melbourne making a big statement and delisting him. That would be a completely over the top reaction as well as an act of stupidity. 10 Quote

All players do community programs through their community partners as part of their contracts. It’s extra on top of the requirement. It’s time out of their day. I’d think the negative coverage would be more punishment for these guys than anything anyway. Quote

Such an impressive guy. Absolutely owned that press conference and even gave a journo a light clip for being mischievous. 5 Quote
sue 9,277 Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 The reason I suggested Max for PM in an earlier tongue-in-cheek post was because, unlike recent politicians, if he didn't want to answer a question he simply said he would not, nor did he avoid answering a question by going into a prepared speech on another topic. Very refreshing. 2 Quote

shoguner 99 Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 These damn journo's are like vultures, searching for any scraps they can find. Gawny handled that press conference really well. One of the best captains I've seen watching footy and a champion bloke. 4 Quote

Compulsory viewing for all members to just appreciate how lucky the Dees are to have a first class leader in Max Gawn. The only positive to come out of this is the reinforcement that Gawn is a superb leader 3 Quote
Demon3 2,541 Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Gotcha gernalism is alive and well in AFL Media. Its a horrible industyry with zero accountability. Max was great and gives me great faith that the boys will respond. 4 1 Quote
Dee Viney Intervention 2,029 Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Would of loved for Max to sign off from that press conference by saying “thanks but I’ve got to go and mow my lawn” #manscaped 2 Quote

tiers 2,883 Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Maxie is the most impressive captain and leader in the AFL by a wide margin. It is simply amazing that he could grow in stature by so much this year. No other captain in recent times has shown his level of sophistication and intelligence as a leader, both when we won the flag and now when the club is under some pressure. I would follow him anywhere. Lead on Maxie. 1 2 Quote

Must send such a great message to the playing group as well. “This is war fellas, lets get on the front foot and address our challenges head on” can’t recall Cotchin, or co responding in an equivalent manner Quote
deeTRACted 406 Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Max handled himself so well in that presser. Cool, calm collected and made excellent points. He is a brilliant captain and leader. 1 Quote
