Get the feeling Rutten isn't going to last at bomberland.

Maybe the players are playing for Lord Jimmy, and not Ben, or the club.  They just hope he can bring an injection of enthusiasm (or at least an injection of something). 🙄

The ladder is really interesting. It is completely clear that only two teams have any idea about defence – of course, we are one of them.

so lovely to see Geelong on the slide.

Rutten will start getting described as 'not Essendon enough' soon and that is the path to the door.

And on that note...I wonder how Matthew Knights feels about the current situation...

I know we would be a different side without Petracca or Oliver but is there a team more reliant on one player than Richmond is on Dusty?

Has anyone ever seen that bloke smile?

Barely touched the ball.  Just seemed to strut around.

Parker took the mickey out of him with a shoulder shrug jig after kicking a goal after Sheil fumbled the ball.  The jig suggesting Shiel is frightened to go in hard for the ball.

Video of the sledge here:

Quite funny!

So much support there for sledging.  A fine example to juniors.

shiel is signed on big, big money til the end of 2024 and doesn't look like an afl level player

he can ONLY play in the midfield and his effort and impact is not even close to being good enough at the moment

peptides in a world of pain...such a shame

Apart from the Parker incident, there was also a point in the game where one of his team mates (I think it was Redman) was absolutely paying out on Shiel for not doing his share in defending.

Shame I'm not doing tipping this year, it looks like I'm 6/6 so far.

Very happy to see St Kilda beat Geelong yesterday. Looks like the slide is on!

I agree with some others on here that it looks as though the 8 is set. I'm just hoping both Geelong and Richmond draw eachother in an Elimination Final so as to take care of one of themselves.

And my early pick is St Kilda to take a top 4 spot along with us Fremantle and Brisbane. I thought they gave the best 4 quarter effort of any team against us last week.

Hoping Suns can get the job done today, not much of a crowd by the looks of things.

They’re in the game just so panicked kicking inside 50, many times now they’ve bombed off one step to no-one when they had far more time!

Freo facing their first real threat in the Suns up there.

The Melbourne boys were all pretty bullish on Gold Coast after playing them. I trust their football judgment, and Fremantle play a lot like Melbourne.

Even though the Suns have had some bad losses this year I reckon the fact the Suns play honest football these days means other teams can cut them up but teams that play properly like Melbourne and Fremantle will struggle a little more to get over the top of them.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti
