I’m excited now. Excited for Weid as I’ve been a backer, and this will be the first time he’s had the chance to properly operate in tandem with Brown.

Looking forward to seeing what Dunstan brings. Hopefully he causes a very hard decision to be made when Viney is back next week.

Imagine that, Dunstan plays a 30 posse cracker!

The " changes thread" would blow up!

Good balanced changes considering we never want to be without Lever or Viney.
Massive chance for Dunstan. He would want to have a bloody good game if he’s to displace one of our other mids, which can only be a good thing.
I imagine it won’t be smooth sailing and it might take a half for him to settle in.

Tigers are missing Dusty and Grimes which just about equals us missing Viney and Lever.

Pretty sure I’d actually prefer to be missing Viney and Lever than Martin and Grimes, and that’s saying something.

Do we know what day their COVID protocols started? Brown didn't come straight back in, but Viney and Lever may be able to at least sneak in a captain's run. Wonder if Goody will look at it differently?

Weid gets to good positions but needs to hang onto more marks. Playing up the ground a bit more (and BBB more from the goal square) i think will suit Weid. Gets him involved in the game, takes the pressure off him to kick a bag. If he increases goal assists, who cares who kicks them. 10 goals from different players in the 3rd last week illustrates this

Happy that the club put faith in him and dropped Tmac. Will put a rocket up both of them

Agree with most Stiffy but no one seems to play from the goal square anymore. BBB will continue to take marks on the wing.

Only a handful of years ago we had zero quality depth. I shakes me head at how times have changed!

Someone has to start in the goal square after each of our 30 goals this week!

You nailed that.

Lucky guess more then anything lol

When Goodwin pumped up Weideman after the Giants game in reference to BB selection I knew straight away Tmac was in trouble.

Dunstan got 3 Brownlow votes against Richmond last year.

He's welcome to grab another 2 votes behind the great CP5 on Sunday.

I believe the AFL has its own protocols that might be different from the new Vic and NSW rules. Probably to keep the 18 clubs on the same page, abundance of caution, etc. Would've thought if they can do a captains run they'd be playing, but who knows

Evidence here that you can change your starting 18 with an extended interchange bench.

Lol, it had to happen after I said I’ve never seen the starting 18 changed before.

Happy with Tmac out rather than Weid

Don't mind it either, but not all that confident Weid will step up

Who is medi-sub? Has Bedford been able to run around for Casey in recent weeks, or has he missed out on playing a few games? If he's missed out, then he should go back to Casey and someone else get a run as Sub

Tomlinson is back strength with a bit of wing flex? Otherwise Melksham utility?

Not sure Weid is better than Tmac

but he is a lot younger and possibly will play the same role in 2 years

Imagine putting in a poor performance for us with Salem, Viney, Lever, TMac, Hibberd, Tomlinson, Melksham, Bedford, Chandler, Majak, and Mitch Brown ready to come in.

In all seriousness that is half of an AFL quality side ready to go.

I’m praying Weideman takes this opportunity & takes off.

if they reach their potential both Weids & Van Rooyen could be an awesome combo going forward.

We haven’t had such pressure for spots in my 35 years following the demons

good changes. T Mac has been average all year. Weed deserves this chance.

I won’t be expected amazing things from Dunstan. He has been solid at Casey without being amazing. I will expect him to go hard and put his head over it. Be interesting to see if Sparrow or Jordons roles change

Like many on here, I thought Weid would go before Tmac.

His moment has now  arrived ........ hope he hangs onto those marks.

If Dunstan plays at his best he will be an adequate replacement for Viney.

May will be backline general again - so no problems down there.

That’s the thing, if he can get on the lead he generally does hold onto the marks. It’s the one on one, body on body contests where he struggles… hhhmmm I wonder if we can bring in another big bloke that might complement that… oh look over yonder it’s a Big Benny Brown!

I agree re Bedford medi sub.  Bettter to rotate with a few others if possible and get more games/experience into Bedford at VFL as well as keeping him match fit ready?

Poor bloke must be picking out a few splinters of late

We've all wanted a run of Weid in the side and now he's played a handful, the real test now is how he gels/works with BBB. Hope he takes it.

There is no reason Mitch shouldn't be looked at if he kicks the door down at Casey and one or more of the other talls are under performing

Clearly it started yesterday at the earliest, which means they should be done by next Thursday, making it very easy for them to be available for a Saturday afternoon game at home. Can’t see any issues with them missing unless they either have Covid now or catch it during their iso period, which is not even a thing anymore.

Hasn’t Bedford played every game at Casey this year despite being medi sub?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
