Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I was thinking during that game sparrow may need a rest but then he did that beautiful assist & played well.

Sick of reading on social media the Melbourne supporters didn't show up, there undefeated, the reigning premiers & typical Melbourne of there supporters. I'm putting it down to Easter, school holidays, people can now travel, people still hate the fact you just can't rock up & buy a ticket, the comedy festival was on, storm were playing & not everyone wants to come to a night game especially if you are relying on public transport to go home.

Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed it. Also have you noticed the stories about Goodwin and his bullying antics have suddenly stopped?

Excuses.
As a supporter base we've always been pretty slack in my honest opinion.

Salem will take Gus' spot, JJ sits out for Gus.

Pretty straight forward hierarchy in my mind at least.

How good was it seeing Petty in that backline?

Also loved Maysie’s interview on 7. Nice to know my imaginary boyfriend can string a sentence together 😂

That's was an elite performance all round and really fun to sit back with a couple of beers and not once feel stressed about tonight. It was fun.

Harrison Petty just proved tonight how bloody important he is to our back six. We have missed him severely and now I'm at ease with our back six group.

Tom Sparrow and Charlie Spargo really stood up tonight and contributed well. Liked their games.

Bring on the tigs

May's interviews are always excellent.  Honest, humorous and rarely trots out the clichés.

But how many teams could boast having Tomlinson as a back up KPP defender.  Or even Weed as the same role forward?

Goodness knows who will be the truly unlucky defender when Salem returns.

So many teams with questionable defence and we have Tomlinson and Smith as our 4th and 5th best tall defenders. Just incredible.

As for Weed, I would much prefer one player stood up as the clear 2nd tall behind Brown but am happy that Weid is still on the list to compete for a spot.

The recent dominant teams put the foot on the neck.

We’re still happy to keep cruising.

The first sentence is not true.

i mean of course sometimes they did.

Just as we did tonight - we won by 10 plus goals tonight after all (and in the back end of last season).

But plenty of scrappy wins too

The last dominant team was the 2017 to 2020 tigers.

Dominant in the sense that there was a big gap back to the chasing pack.

They had tones of low margin victories in that period. Rarely thrashed teams.

Ironically their most consistent big wins came in 2018, when they were as far ahead of the next best as we are now. 19-3 I think.

And they got knocked out in the prelim by big cox.

The hawks were the previous dominant team.

They probably had more big victories in their dominant period, but still plenty of 'professional' 4-5 goal wins pulling up.

The previous dominant team was the lions - and they did hammer plenty of teams.

But that is a generation ago in footy terms. A different game now.

And I disagree we are happy to cruise.

We look to dominate.

Pretty impressive of Tommy Mac that even though he is competing with Weid for a spot, twice when he was within range he dropped it short for Weid

Yes, it’s a part of the reason Tmac will remain when Brown comes back next week.

Look I partially agree with you, Easter weekend does tend to have a negative impact on crowd numbers. But at the same time we have been desperate for success, and desperate to own the spotlight as a “power”. I would’ve hoped for minimum 25k for this match, and possibly 30k+ on a regular weekend.

Are some of our fans too comfortable with us winning to come for these “lower grade” fixtures?

I just absolutely loved Mays 2 defensive acts. My god look how far he has come from when he first joined us.

I would like to take this moment to say that I was wrong about Steve.

I loved Hogan and was gutted that he went back to Freo. I wanted to take the draft pick to the draft and was fuming that we picked up May who I thought was overrated.

I was 100% wrong and I apologise to Steve. He has been so important to our side.

Clearly our best game for the year. Not only  the best footy we’ve played but what impressed me was that, and this will go under the radar given the margin, GWS actually played some strong football tonight. Their clearance work was dominant early and they forced us to play far too much in our defensive half.

So to then turn it on and belt them by 11 goals was sublime. And puts some egg on the face of those who have said “but they don’t score enough”.

Really loved seeing some of the season’s lesser lights stand up: Pickett, Spargo and Sparrow all did really well. Sparrow’s tap in the 4th was a highlight but it was the gut running from half back to make it there in the first place that saw the entire side get around him after the goal.

May was phenomenal tonight. Lever played the second half on one leg (fingers crossed it was nothing too serious but he didn’t look great after the match) but May kept everything at bay. Petty showed us why the FD knew what they were doing in bringing him straight back. And the work of Gawn, Oliver, Trac, Harmes and Viney to wrestle back stoppage momentum was huge.

I’m sure some will point out our wins have been against sides all currently sitting outside the 8, but we’ve now beaten 4 of last year’s finalists, and dealt with two road trips to boot. Time will tell whether these sides end up being finalists in 2022 but for now we can hardly ask for anything more.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
