True, but some might say that we can only go on the strength of his latest offering.

So the big question is: does he hold his place? 

Goody seems reluctant to make too many changes to a winning team and we have BBB and Lever to come in this week, clearly part of our best 22. Is it Tmac and Hunt out? When Salem and Petty are ready it will be another selection dilemma

How good is it to not only be at the G but to be able to remain cool when the Bombers hit the front twice and you just know that the boys have their measure. Our kicking was atrocious early on and to squander so many Forward entries was frustrating and my daughter did laugh when I lost my voice. We have such a talented group but Clarry and Gus were off the scale. Go Dees.!!!!

Will BBB definitely be available? I’m not entirely sure of what the COVID protocols are if he’s a contact but has negative tests. 

Absolutely can’t drop Weid. Tommy I would also be reluctant to drop, while I wouldn’t say he’s playing great I wouldn’t say he’s playing bad. Plus he has the flexibility to play back if needed. Great problem to have, but jeez how does it work?

I put some of Weids easier misses down to nerves and confidence, hopefully knocking the first game on its head means he can gain some confidence. That one from the boundary line was bloody amazing.

At the ground last night I thought it was interesting to see how Koz is being used. It was really obvious he was playing a more traditional forward pocket/crumbing role. Several times when he could have run up to the ball carrier he instead sprinted back towards the deepest tall forward - which creates space for the likes of Nibbler and Spargo to lead to the ball and link up. It’s a tough gig for him as the opportunities are so scarce, but it really highlighted how disciplined the team is. Some weeks he’s going to look like he’s not done much, but he’s so important to us forward of centre.

I think as a reward for all his off the ball work he’s allowed to have a shot whenever he gets it. Seems fair.

Reckon it's part of the "resilience" built in to our fitness/training. Not "right" but not "too badly" injured = you play.

 

The Bummers lacked the decency to win their first two games and get their fans on a high of excitement. That would have brought 70K to our home game. God they're scum.

 

Game should have been iced by half time but then it made the second half an entertaining spectacle as the Bummers got so near and yet so far.

Yeah, get your point Mazer, but the thought of losing Petracca gives me the shakes.

Not only are we 3/0 after winning the premiership Jaded but our AFLW team is playing for a flag next week. Our VFL side is sitting on top of the ladder and our VFLW is also sitting on top undefeated after 6 games. We are leading in all 4 competitions. 
Imagine the amount of substance abuse you’d need to come up with that scenario a few years ago. We are a seriously well run club

Clayton Oliver: possibly the best exponent of the handball in the history of football, yet copped a lot of flak over the journey for not kicking the ball enough. I was always a defender - let him do what he does best - but no doubt he has stepped up to another level after be encouraged to take a few driving steps out of the stoppage and look to the boot. 

His evolution is pretty plain to see on the stats-sheets, and so far this year he has basically completed that journey (small sample withstanding, and he seemingly bailed us out so many times on Friday via hand). These are pure season-total figures because I can't be bothered calculating the ratios, but:

2016: 174 handballs to 76 kicks
2017: 482 v 177
2018: 472 v 262
2019: 413 v 248
2020: 230 v 195
2021: 431 v 358
...........................

2022 (to date): 48 handballs to 56 kicks.

Also, for those at the ground, what's the story with Langdon and Brayshaw playing footsies together on the same wing most of the night?  Was Jordon on the other wing and Gus pushing up from half-back, or was there some strange tactical thing going on where we stacked our other side with talls and let the wingers' club run rampant together on the other knowing we could win the contested?

Great stuff @Skuit  - 2020 figures accurate? Seems a marked decrease in overall output.... was that a covid impact? Was he injured (he's durable) I can't recall???

I reckon Gus has improved immensely since the rumours started that he was going to be traded to make salary cap room for Jackson. His last 2-3 weeks have been immense and easily in our best half dozen players.

The Jackson issue though isn’t going away. We are going to lose one of our highly valued players.
