Jackson and Bowey, so glad they’re ours right now. Brilliant games by both.

Pressed hard but held on as needed.  Bloody hot and humid.

PS Tracc is so well spoken. A true leader on and off the field.

Good teams get wins when they play poorly. We played very poorly, but fact is we are missing most of our backline, had a short preseason and we’re in unfamiliar humid conditions.

Personally, I am very glad to bank to 4 points

Was a good game up to half time. Grind after that and GC never looked like winning.

Gus needs to go back to the wing.
Spargo trying to mark it on the wing is ridiculous.
Bowey and Jackson are insane.
This entire game is never to be spoken of again. Let’s move on.

Had some genuine concern for this game given we haven't played up there for a while and are missing some class in the backline, plus the Suns are alright. Very alright.

It was a slog, but we get the 4 points.

Let's get back and prepare for a big one v the Bombers.

Bowey is super.

Go Dees!

Jake Bowey should be ineligible for the Rising Star when he already is a star.

It’s beneath him and would be an insult to nominate him.

Bowey was poise personified. Can't remember him look flustered or screw up a disposal all career.

Trac you champion. So humble and grounded after a 41 possession game, and throws in the cheeky comment about getting Dogga signed up at the end too. Finger on the pulse.

Still hasn’t played in a losing team. Long may it continue.

Max will not play like that next week.

Bowey seriously you are just so composed & never wastes the ball.

Got the win that's all we had to do.

Get ready for next week

Clumsy, clunky game with little skill to speak of, and the Dees much-touted defence seemed to allow the Suns a lot of space emerging from stoppages.

Trac, Bowey and Jackson - wow and well done.

Some of the kicking tonight was horrendous, probably due to heat, fatigue, humidity. Even Spargo's kicking was horrible at times.

But I will take the win. The ugly ones are important ones.

Misread that as "Max will not play next week" and had a heart attack thinking I'd missed an injury report.

I'll take it. We may have been scrappy but the game was played in very difficult conditions and Gold Coast are generally dangerous team early in the year.

I was very impressed with some of our young players. Luke Jackson is an absolute gun. I'm amazed that Bowey has only played 9 games. He's already playing like a senior footballer.

Bowey 150 ranking points.

Dogaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh......

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
