2022 Injury List

Could this be Majak Daw’s opportunity to get some game time in the seniors? Have to think long game here, if we push Max to breaking point (if we haven’t done already) it could put us up the creek without a paddle for the pointy end of the season.

We have to dig deep big time now.

Lol, when has anyone ever said players are being “pushed through the injury barrier”?

It is 100% his back. He was holding it constantly. Channel 7 commentary is trash.

We don’t deserve him. He is a warrior and I’m fuming that Cox, genuinely one of the worst footballers going around, gets to look like some sort of hero today playing on nobody after injuring Gawn. I hope he drops those stupid sunglasses in the toilet!

We are in genuine trouble if Gawn is going to be out for a while or down on form due to the injury.

Cox should follow them 😎

Sadly Majak didn’t play VFL - and nobody has said why (unless it has appeared in the last few hours).

Believe he was ill. Maybe the flu?

I’ve wanted to see Daw given a go for a while now. My only concern though, is that it seems he has become a lumbering big man. He doesn’t cover the ground much. That is from the handful of Casey games I’ve seen. I always thought he was super athletic at North. Did he bulk up too much?

Majak has played 1 game in 4 weeks, can't see him getting a game

Round 12 - Did Not Play
Round 11 - 7 disposals 3 marks 2 tackles 34 hit outs
Round 10 - Did Not Play
Round 9 - Did Not Play (Bye)

Maybe don't take significant injuries / illness impacted players into a game?

You don't always need a Maxy to square the ledger in the big man dept.  Use Majak in small doses as required and craft / grind out some of these games.  Maybe for the odd win.  Ok so we lose a few ....we probably would've lost them anyway taking in compromised players.

Gives the injured / ill time to reset and come back primed.

I'm only a keyboard amature but seems a little strange to be managing a team in this manor over such a grueling long season.

Goody goes back to learnings but it appear he has allowed this error with two of our key players now over the last few weeks.  An error that could be the difference between 2nd and 3rd maybe if things get tight?

As we know this is often a game of inches or small percentages.  A few good/poor decisions can be the difference.  Playing a big time player impacted by such issues to me also has the potential to effect a player's mental state / confidence in general, IF he ends up feeling he has not been able to play at his best and has let the team down etc.

Simply not worth it in my book.  Would we take this risk in a big final?  If not, why do we do so in regular season?

Totally agree, we had the chance a few weeks ago with the WC / North fortnight to rest up a few players.  Especially the ones who got Covid early in the season.

No it didn’t. They weren’t pushing through injuries.

you can build them up and push them through those periods where they're a little sore, a little bit tender and a little bit fatigued …

Cox has got form.
Pulled a similar stunt about a month ago.
Got fined 2k.

I actually thought the same thing that Cox has done this in the past, I wonder if this was Toby Greene we were looking at would he be suspended (for the v Lions incident, I actually haven’t seen the moment he did it to Max)?

Salem and Langdon are clearly underdone and can't run.

Gawn has been carrying injuries since before the West Coast game.

Petty has been carrying injuries for weeks as well.

Petracca has been well down since being sick prior to the Freo game.

The young kids are looking tired and beaten up.

How much more evidence do we need that we can't keep carrying players who aren't anywhere near full fitness?

so why didnt we rest players v north and west coast???

I saw a snippet of an interview with Max last night.  He was very unhappy with the short bye.  It was in the context of recovery from injuries.

It is not like him to take aim at AFL boffins so it must be a real sore point with players and/or the club.  He said something like:  "...thanks everyone for the shortest bye in history..."

No guessing who 'everyone' is!!

  • Demonland changed the title to Max Gawn Injury

We await the results of the scan. Our season could depend on it. Fingers crossed it’s nothing serious for the skipper.

And yes, a 10 day bye seems unjust when other clubs get over 15 days break. We’re struggling with injuries so it’s going to hit us hard.

Seriously, if we can't cover for Max and we drop out of the top four by years end, we're not the 'team' we thought.

Great teams consistently cover for key players. It's everything else that isn't working.

Petracca needs to pull his finger out for one. Talks about lack of motivation when playing in front of small crowds and then has an opportunity to drag us over the line in front of 75,000 and has possibly the worst 30+ disposal game you can have. Fumbly, no class, not 100% committed. Fumbles in the goal square. Continues to miss easy targets.

TAKE SOME [censored] CARE WITH THE FOOTBALL. HANDLE AND KICK IT AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT.

Fortunately we have a highly talented young ruck who can cover for him. Lucky we haven't traded him for an 18 year old midfielder yet hey? ;)

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
