Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

1. North - JHF

2. Collingwood - Daicos (matched bid)

6. Adelaide - Rachelle

7. Hawthorn - Ward

8. Freemantle - Hobbs

9. Richmond - Erasmus

10. Freemantle - Amiss

11. St Kilda - Mac Andrew

12. West Coast - NWM

Tyler Sonsie not in the top 21. (?) He’s a talented young midfielder. Saw him in VFL game for box hill Hawks v Werribee and he was a standout.   Thought he was top 8-12 quality in this draft.

Have you recalibrated where youre expecting Cody Raak, Kobi George and Max Pescud to go?

All reports from media seem to suggest that they want to publicity of having the actual Number 1 pick. Sad state of affairs if true.

Personally I think teams should only bid according to how they rate the player and how he fits their needs. If North think Horne-Francis is the best player for their purposes they should take him at No. 1 (assuming of course he wants to be taken at No. 1 rather than 2 or 3).

Tom Boyd is a premiership player who in my opinion should have won the Norm Smith that day.

I will always love Jack Watts but he was taken at a time our culture wasn't right.

Petracca was taken at number 2 and Brayshaw at number 3.

I don't think if either were taken at number 1 it would have affected how they went about this year or on grand final day.

Thank God St Kilda took Paddy McCartin an No. 1 ahead of Christian Petracca in 2014. Thank God also that the Swans matched Melbourne's bid on Callum Mills at No. 3 in 2015. Mills is a good player but we got Clayton Oliver instead!

If Andrew is available at 17 I would say [censored] it and gamble that he lasts till 20.

Pick up another good kid and then match on Andrew.

The only reason I was big on getting Andrew earlier in the year is because we didn't have a first round pick and would be able to match a bid after 20.

I would prefer to pick up a mid or KPF with pick 17.

There's no way known Andrew is going to last til our pick at 19. He's going to go 8 or 9 at worst. I'm glad we're now late in the first round because someone is going to slip through who should have been taken earlier that we can grab. I assume the Club has their eye on someone they expect to be available.  Can't see Josh Sinn lasting til 19, but maybe Sonsie and probably Chesser. Van Rooyen would be a great choice also if available. If all our choices at this level are gone the club could always trade lower.

I think that the top 10 picks are pretty much set for the 2021 AFL National Draft.

I have come to the conclusion that I will be happy with any highly talented player within the top 20 to top 25.

If we somehow fluke a player from within the top 15 then we should all be very pleased.

We should all have faith in Jason Taylor getting the job done!

Agreed, I do find it curious though that Johnson is never linked with either of freos picks despite being constantly predicted to go in that mid section of the first round.

Yes especially with Cerra having moved on. Personally I think the difference is they are still looking for that key forward which is why they are leaning towards Amiss. Erasmus impacts the scoreboard more than Johnson or IMO that is why the phantom drafts are compiled that way.

Alternatively do they take both Erasmus and Johnson with those picks and use pick 20 to take a tall in Van Rooyen or Williams. Although if he’s available with our first pick can’t see us not taking Can Rooyen

i think they need to get in on amiss before the tigers as young talls are surely high or their needs list whereas the tigers are likely to have a slightly different order of priorities in the smaller player market so if amiss is off the board at freos first pick erasmus is more likely to get through to their second pick rather than if they take erasmus first amiss is the obvious tall to take next up for richmond

At the time, both 'slip-aways' to the Saints instead of the Demons were great reliefs. We got the chocolates, as a consequence; and, it was pretty obvious that the Sainter recruiters had virtually no idea with player selections or assessments.

So far the Phantom Drafts are saying the following for the Demons Pick 17 (which will become Pick 19) in the 2021 AFL National Draft.

Here are the 14 possibilities that have been thrown about for our pick.

1) Darcy Wilmot

2) Mitch Owens

3) Jacob Van Rooyen

4) Tyler Sonsie

5) Sam Butler

6) Josh Goater

7) Campbell Chesser

8) Matthew Roberts

9) Mitch Knevitt

10) Josh Sinn

11) Judson Clarke

12) Blake Howes

13) Ned Long

14) Zac Taylor

As for the who Demons ideally want to pick only Jason Taylor will know... 🤷‍♂️

I like him as a defender because he has great footy IQ and good foot skills for a big player. He will be a very good defender.

However I also think his ceiling could be extremely high as a forward, where he is still raw but the talent is there and he has the workrate

If we have to use pick 57 plus change for Woey that leaves us with picks 17, 37 and 49.

Pick 37 = 704 points, Pick 49 = 504 points. Combined = 1208 points

Our pick 17 = 1239 points and pick 18 for example = 1201 points.

So we do have a bit to play with to move higher than our pick 37 if we combine them for a trade higher. In recent years we have seen us be very imaginative and daring on draft night.

Expect the unexpected.

Agreed.

If we can somehow snaffle Western Bulldog's pick 23 or Carlton's pick 25 that would definitely be worthwhile!

Alas, George has not nominated for this year’s draft according to the list of over 700 players published on today’s HS on line subscriber pages.

Correction. The HS update this morning and they now have 863 players including Kobi George. However, what we don't know is whether he remains an NGA for the purposes of the draft.

interesting reading through how players have shifted through the year

Jacob Van Rooyen certainly presents as a very good option with his athleticism and ability to play forward or back.
MFC can give him and other youngsters the time to develop and not be rushed like we did with other draftees. The luxury of a strong list helps us bring along youngsters at the right pace.  Of course having Choco on board is a big bonus ❤️💙🏆

Callaghan seems close to a lock to the Giants and rightly so. He’s got attributes to play wing or a flank but the Giants have so much talent it’s possible he struggles for early opportunities. So drafting Howes would be an investment in keeping him around.

I also think Howes has genuine claims as a first rounder and would be right in the mix for our pick.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
