jake lever will be our next captain after gawn

Not so sure if he keeps getting injured !!

Like him as Captain but no good injured as often.

The only way i can see this working is if we get pick 13 and next years first rounder, we then try and offload 13 for something in the top 10 with other picks thrown in.

Seems to me freo are in a bind.  What they ask for and get for their outgoings sets the tone for the Jacko deal.  If they push for higher picks for the players leaving, then that has to set a value for what we ask of them.  I would say to them get the other deals done first, then let’s chat.

So we take 13 and next years approx 13 for LJ and Tigers pay 12 and 19 this year for Taranto.

Lachie Weller gets Freo 2.

Oh yeah!

Yep soz Luke but I give precisely 0 [censored] about your desire to land at Fremantle. Should have stayed put. Now you can go to a bottom 2 side.

..and work your guts out with no Max

Any posters who study the draft closely have any info on Cambell Chesser? I wonder if West Coast are in for Jackson if it’s someone we might enquire about. He’s been injured this year. I remember a lot of posters thought we would pick him with our first pick last year but I think WC picked him a few picks in front of us.
Rookie me central says he’s strengths are

+Speed, kicking, Class, Versatility, Outside run, Breaking lines.
Sounds perfect for us and from Victoria too.

West Coast will be laughing

Freo have nothing to trade unless they are prepared to give up a top five player.

WCE will split its second pick into say 7 and 10 and we will end up with one of those and WCE's future first. (Not great)

The only comfort I will take is that Freo who fanned the flames will end up burnt

If we get 7 and WCE 1st pick next year - that would be great.

It also won’t happen.

You would think West Coast would like nothing more than to gazump Freo in this deal.

Freo are amatuers. All year to prepare for the trade and it looks like they have sat on their hands

Perhaps they thought the contract money would scare WCE off and we would be left with no choice.

It has certainly been less than satisfactory on their part

can't see the eagles getting out of the bottom 6. Lose Kennedy and Rioli etc.  So F1 would be great

There is zero chance the Eagles trade their first round pick next year.

They will know they are destined for another bottom 4 finish, so it would be crazy for them to do that.

Freo have received a future 2nd &3rd from North for Logue and Tucker. Gives them more draft capital to get Jackson.

No

Just before the apologists argue that a North future second is almost a future first

Added to the offer they have already made I think this  future second gets it done. We would like more but I feel that’s enough to get the deal done.

I reckon this Logue deal could have unlocked the deal.

pick 13, freos future first and NM future second likely (19)

that pick holds enormous value and i think it's as good an outcome as we're likely to get unless West Coast did legitimately become an option.

Not good enough. Time to go deal with West Coast exclusively. Freo are incompetent. Any pick outside top 10 for Jackson is a failure.

If Freo can turn pick 13 & Nth F2nd into a pick inside 7, and add a F1st, I reckon we have a deal.

They can still bundle 13 with Lobb pick or Acres pick and improve it . They can also trade a player to us. Sounding like it will get done.

Wouldn't NM future second go for Grundy?

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
