Barometer'

He’s the player no genuine ‘team’ wants, a self-obsessed twirp with talents way below his own estimation. And yet they keep picking him. He’s the guy you ditch to improve culture.

The 2 things I took out of that game:

1. We are a great team.

2. I’m convinced Rhys Mathieson is Dr D

Ha ha ha ha point 2 is gold!

Little impact from the 'Barometer' tonight. Unless of course you count cheap hits on actual good AFL players.

He's weak as water and a one trick pony who's no good at the trick

As far as Jackson's tooth is concerned, he should replace it with a gold one !!!

The barometer?

Don't you know? He's... the... BEAST!!!

At this stage the grand final is at the MCG.

(why they haven’t yet conceded it is just insulting to the public)

Andrews. just cannot bear to be out of the limelight and keep the adoring public waiting.  McGowan of course is of the same ilk.

Could end up being overseas - in Tasmania?

Fritsch 51 goals 21 behinds

A Star.

Clutch goals tonight

Felt a little sad for Elder statesmen, Jones, Melky and Hibbo .

But that’s the story of having a fantastic team, always some hard luck stories.

Clayton Oliver and Christian Petracca are the greatest midfielders of the modern era for the MFC

Gawn the best captain since Barrassi

Ben Brown BELTING out the Song

Love it

Innit amazing for Ben Brown

The kangaroos didn’t want him because he couldn’t turn could only run straight and couldn’t jump

We took him on and sure enough his knees weren’t right and he had needed

(no pun intended) surgery and wow

He could have stayed where he was and played with the team that finished bottom of the ladder - instead he now could possibly be playing in a winning Grand Final side.

It appears that occasionally a change in  career direction is worth considering

Pretty sure there was a passage of play where Rivers effected a crucial smother then followed up on the opposite wing to set up an attacking foray that resulted in a Frisch goal. Pure class.

Am I late to this, is f-l-o-g censored? Why?

What else am I going to call Mathison?!

As great as Nibbler was tonight., and I'm not a fan of him but am of his he work rate, his decision making worries me. Regardless, kudos to him. Well done nibbler.

Rivers was immense tonight as were Brayshaw, Sparrow and ANB some of our "lesser lights" - fantastic

I love how we just lock down on games. It starts out tight and we just grind them down and take the game away.

That's what good sides do..

Better than Hogan could do.

Jacqui Felgate must’ve done something terrible to wardrobe lady.

He should be cited by the MRO for that front on contact on Gawn. Not looking at the ball, just turns his body and bumps a player trying to take a mark with no regard at all for the contest.

He is a dead set fl*g.

Wanted to post a GIF of some smug bloke smoking a cigar while holding a glass of Cognac...

I guess you all get what point i was trying to make.

GO DEES!!!

Rivers was fantastic tonight, desperate when it mattered, made great decisions, held his marks, hit his targets.

SOLID.

I missed the woo hoo guy tonight.

im feeling almost serene which is bizarre compared to my usual stressed mess.

Go Dees ❤️💙

There's no room for compassion on the march to a flag . Go Dee's.

Thought we had an aura of confidence about us tonight that I haven’t seen before. Looked like we thought “ we got this “ all game. When we lost the 3rd quarter at another time we might have panicked. Not this Melbourne team. Their confidence gives me confidence we will win flag.

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
