Good thing we have a record of strong finishing. On that basis our poor kicking doesn't matter that much.

Go Dees.

Destiny is calling.

We have to come out firing. If we have a good third quarter it’s done. But if we let them get back in the hunt it could be costly. They absolutely can kick a big score on us as shown by the first quarter.

all brilliant that quarter

Joel Smith keeping Cameron quiet

Salem seems to lack intensity

Salem is really slow.. like his little legs are pumping but he never gets anywhere :D

Stating the obvious that we're killing them ... shame the game hasn't be buried.

Should be at least 7 goals ahead.

Hopefully the missed shots for goal don't come back to bite us.

Good first half.

Defence on top.

if we could kick straight, it would be game over

Dees should be 8 goals up

need to keep on top

Cameron still dangerous

Lions form coming into this game was a mirage. they are a better than average team and not much more

That’s a very very risky comment, tempting fate. They get some momentum, and things can change. Hopefully not…

Stay positive bingers, still 2 quarters to go regardless

Great quarter lads, keep it up let’s put the foot on their throat this quarter. Oliver has been unreal. Hasn’t quiet clicked for Trac. I’m betting he turns it around and has a massive second half.  Go dees

Riewoldt and Jono Brown trying to justify Toby Greene's bump on the umpire. Seriously give me a break, no room for that crap in the game. Multiple weeks for me.

we know we came back from bigger margins, and the lions will know a 15minute slip from the dees like we did against Geelong gets them back into the game. So the Lions will come out hard this quarter to try to turn it around. we need to stand tall and extend that lead, we need to starve them of chances and impact their confidence around the ball and goal. Go Dees

Premiership quarter?

That was some kind of half from Oliver, far and away BOG. Some better play from his teammates and we could be further in front.

Some of my thoughts are:

- we got the game on our terms that quarter, we were able to set up and prevent them from having any of the goals out the back they had in the first quarter

- Oliver and the midfield got much better at winning second and third balls, clearances wise they still seem to be better but we’re working harder

- we had a period where the ball was camped in our forward 50 but it took a while to get the goal, it was crucial we got that reward for effort otherwise I could’ve seen some frustration brewing

- inaccuracy has cost us from having the game very close to put to bed. Petracca x2 was the most frustrating and TMac missing his one chance after having a quiet game was annoying in particular

- third quarter is huge here because we let them get a sniff get ready for a tough final quarter.

- them constantly winning the centre clearances is concerning and I really hope something is done about it

Hope we come out and [censored] superstition into submission

I hope this ‘reset’ mentality is applied to quarters.
Need to refocus and smash them this second half. 🔴🔵

Just sayin.

Send it through to Bounce. I'm sure they're desperate for Numerology content over there.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
