B.T would think a high school is one up on a mountain!

BT  would think a high school is for stoners

(great work Jake, may you have a long, injury free career with us)

What excites me most about Jake is his quick decision making. He knows what he’s going to do with it before he even gets the ball.

A lot of our ball movement seems ‘rushed’, whereas with Jake it is ‘quick’.

I would love to see a page just on this topic , JT and his team have done such a brilliant job through the drafts since he came to the club

I believe JT,  PJ, Goodwin and Roosy all came to the club the same year

A pity he chose the Weid ahead of Harry Mackay.

Imagine having him in our forward line 😍

Gee it would have been something,  I've said it before on here probably his only miss, we would have been extremely happy campers with Harry McKay in the ranks. 🤬

He looks like being a better player than his dad !!

I suspect in years to come people will refer to Brett Bowey as Jake Bowey's father !!

Looks that way ,i know his mum Dee would be so proud, went their wedding hottest day ever and the aircon broke down at the reception

Bump, just in case, to save us starting a new thread!

34 disposals, 16 contested possessions, 10 intercepts, 81% disposal efficiency.

As good as any medium or small defender's game can possibly be.

152 Supercoach, for those who monitor that as a loose indicator.

Nobody even close on the numbers this week, so he should now become only the second player to be nominated for Rising Star after already having a premiership medal. (I asked SwampThing on Twitter and he confirmed Richard Hadley, who, incredibly, not only was in his third season, but had ONLY played finals in his second season.)

Slipped beautifully into Salem's role 'Goffy'...the kid can play a bit.

If he doesn’t get the nod this week the panel have zero brain cells. What a gem we’ve got here!

I wanted to load up on Bowey but the best player doesn't win.

Daicos is a moral because of name. Don't get me wrong he is a good footballer. But there is no way for AFL PR it goes to Bowey over Daicos.

$13

Bet responsibly.

No flash in the pan - just an honest, modest and 'bestest' type of young footballer doing all the correct things, consistently, and these attributes have clearly shown his talent, longer-term potentials and matching performances with some of our experienced best. Hearty congratulations young man, not a step wrong so far with an enormous upside to come.

Probably as per above.

Jake Boweys thinking at Rising Star award in 2022  - "....Rising star vs Premiership medallion?...hmmmm.....)

There has been a few well deserved articles today about his game.  He won Fox's Golden Fist award this week.  That is a mickey mouse fun thing but still good recognition.

Collectively, they add up to having his name in the RS conversation.

I can't think of any eligible player who played better this week so he has to be the nominee.

Keep going at this rate and it will be tough to overlook him, despite the glamour boys being hailed as young stars.

Not sure its responsible but I'm on

Well FMD Bowey got it this week!
They went output over hype. Well done little ginger. You can hang up this useless nomination next to your shiny premiership medal.

It had to be him.  He excelled.  No other contenders even came close.

As i mentioned earlier today, continue like this and he can't be ignored at the end of the year to be The 2022 Rising Star.

Jackson won it in his second year so not impossible.

@DemonlandCan we change the title to show RS #2?

Imagine the nerve of winning back to back flags and back to back rising stars…

I’ll take my jinx and see myself out now

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
