Dally M medallist? WTF?? What work experience Queenslander wrote this?

L N staying at Brisbane.!!! Glad to hear this.!!!

Damn... it would have been a bad trade for both Brisbane and Freo.

Smart move ... I would say I was staying too if I wanted to the media to back off when there is no certainty that I and my current club can / will  come to terms with Freo ... lets see what happens over the trade period however

Mitch Robinson has to build some bridges after his dummy spit. Will feel like a real goose - which he is.

I thought it's been established as a fake account...if not does it disqualify Mitch from winning the Dally M?

I didn’t know. I thought it was strange. So I take it back - everything except the goose reference which I still think is apt.

I'm really interested in the reported pursuit of Adam Cerra for a few reasons,

1. we wouldn't make an approach if we didn't realisitically think we could get a deal done

2. what role is he going to play? is the intention for him to play on the opposite wing to Langdon?

It seems to me that our 2022 first round pick, pick 36 and a fringe player or pick swap could be a reletively okay deal, but Freo will push hard for Jackson or Rivers to be included

Every time there's a potential trade, people seem to forget it doesn't have to be a straight swap between two clubs. Third and fourth parties often get involved. Using Cerra purely as an example, we could trade some handy but (for us) depth players to another club in return for an early draft pick that then finds its way to Freo.

That's a poultry backflip..

Just a couple of little snippets I have is that Geelong & Richmond are looking at Tarrant from Kangas.  Swans unlikely to now have the salary cap for Barrass from WCE, who was interested in moving to Sydney for family reasons.

My mail is that Cerra told a close contact of mine that he really believed he was meeting with Dees to just “tick a box” but now he is genuinely considering them.

Is the box he’s ticking the one next to “play for a good team who currently has a coach and a chance in hell?”

The box ticking was from his psychiatrist to approve a move to Carlton and sign of on his mental health he had to meet with a well run club so he could ensure he made a rational decision.

They are tricky them shrinks…

Mustn’t be many key defenders around. Tarrant played 10 games this year and is 32. Wouldn’t have much left in him you’d think

I think the attraction is Tarrant might be interested in moving if it's to a club that may play finals and he would be relatively cheap.  Also worth keeping in mind that his 10 games was affected by a very unusual medical issue and not necessarily his body failing him.

Geelong interested in a 32 year old - he's right in their demographic recruiting window - a likely replacement for Lachie Henderson who hasn't been great this finals series; they would not have much salary cap room either.  List is about to fall off a cliff - roll of the dice.

Richmond - Astbury replacement - not as dire as Geelong's list, but reloading for 1 more tilt while they still have Cotchin, Riewoldt and Dusty can still do Dusty things.   If I was Tarrant and the motivation to move was success this is who I would choose.

Hold the front page! Melbourne is now considered to be a well run club!

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
