That's a bit of an overreaction.

Why? How is this not a distraction? If we appeal that’s another day of not knowing if he can play or not.
We have a very tough week in hotel quarantine in Perth and a big game coming up on a hostile ground. How is this not an unnecessary distraction?

He is not the first player to be suspended and won’t be the last.  Move on mate.

Once the finding was that there was sustained deliberate pressure to the neck 2 weeks was the minimum.

Lucky it wasn't more

Now let’s get Tom Lynch back to the tribunal for smacking blokes’ heads into the ground when they can’t defend themselves. That should be worth a couple of weeks too.

Selwood of course would have been a free man

The AFL Tribunal is so corrupt, they don’t even hide it anymore

Let’s hope Jack’s reaction is as follows

”I don’t want to distract the club or team, so I will accept the decision without appeal. I will use the 2 weeks to work on my fitness, kicking and taking the first option”

gives the club a chance to compare the difference of Jordon (or equivalent) playing Viney’s role. Then making an informed decision on best line-up for R23 game against Geel.

This is a forum for discussion. Last time I checked you’re free to put me on ignore. Just because someone doesn’t agree with your views doesn’t make it a carry on or laughable.
You carrying on that there was nothing in it has been proven wrong. We’ve now lost our vice captain for 2 weeks. Whether you agree with the decision or not, it was a dumb thing for Jack to do and put us in that position as a club. I doubt anyone at the club would disagree with that assessment.
No need to respond. I don’t give a single [censored] about what you think about my thoughts.

lucky to cop two weeks imo

My problem with all of this is the sheer inconsistency of the so-called 'Tribunal's' decisions. There is definitely a case of what is good for the goose, is out of bounds for the gander. The history of the decisions handed out by these buffoons  posturing as Pontius Pilate is staggering. There are too many instances of one law for certain protected species, another for the rest.

When I first saw it it looked pretty bad. 2 weeks is about right.

Don't care for comparisons to other incidents. You'll end up driving yourself mad

Regardless of what happens now, this stupid act from Viney has added unnecessary distraction to an already compromised preparation for a very important game. [censored] poor leadership.

What a load of rubbish

Dont be such a drama queen

This is definitely a big issue. Big name players for big clubs get away with murder which is absolute trash. The inconsistency of the tribunal and the MRO is disgraceful.

This league is nothing short of a disgrace. How do you get weeks for basically  wrestling  its infuriating.

I think I will recover, in about 5 minutes

The bleeding obvious question now is will Jack make it back into the team after his suspension?

Straight back in

Would Selwood/Lynch/Buddy have gotten away with this? Probably. Maybe.

But that doesn't make what Viney did right.

Sure, they were wrestling, but only one guy had his elbow on the other's throat/jaw, and that was our VC. We were smashing them, there was no point in this. I want our guys to be 'tough', but not dumb/reckless. This would not be ideal had it happened the week before finals.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
