It doesn't matter who comes in a loss is a certainty. Most mentally weak club in the comp and everyone knows it. I'm furious at the club. They let us down time and time again no chance of a flag this year they are cooked.

Six changes

Ins

1. smart footy

2. accurate goalkicking

(Jackson Spargo Brayshaw Pickett to have 50 kicks for goal as detention homework )

3. tackling to stop the player getting the disposal free

4. Disposal to a target

5. Winning centre clearances

6. lower the eyes to a target in forward 50

out

1. irrelevant disposals by midfield

2. little handballs by oliver and Petracca to no one !!!!

3. Kicking to the pockets all the time

4. Bombing into contests in forward 50

5. Ruck tap to the opposition

6. Key forwards playing behind their opponents

In - psychologist +/- psychiatrist (who could also be offered to long suffering fans), and a goal kicking coach.
Hoping the former can get into the minds of players who think playing bottom teams NB 15,16,17 is going to be a walkover.
Oue - bath water, egos.

Ins - Wiedeman, Bowey, Harmes

Outs - Jackson, Rivers, Viney

Am sure to get howled down about Jackson, however, he isn't providing enough and I thing right now, Wiedeman would deliver more in that Ruck/Forward role.

Out: VDB

In: Harmes

Rivers is looking like he needs a rest so I wouldn't be opposed to him going out for Bowey.

Not a bad thought with Jackson for Weideman. Jackson will be awesome but his output is waning and gave us little when around the ball tonight. Weideman should provide more of a threat forward as well.

Need some big changes:

In: Weid, Harmes

Out: Jackson, Viney,

Jackson just isn’t having the same effect anymore. Viney is a liability.

We need to have a serious conversation about Jack Viney. His skills are just not good enough. He butchered every disposal tonight. I love his hardness and attack on the ball but Vanders can do that.

IN: Melksham

OUT: Viney or vandenBerg

Need some skill in the team, that was extremely apparent tonight.

Greg Stafford time to move on too IMO.

I like Harmes getting midfield minutes more than Viney.

I'm with you on Jackson. Give him a spell. Does not impact the game at all.

I’m flat, not sure where to start.. our centre work isn’t working, so need to start there. I’d like to bring Bowey in, Viney needs to go.. Max looked so flat tonight, was taking pills at half time.

This isn't about changes to personnel, it's about changes to attitude.

We need to work out why we don't apply ourselves against bottom 10 sides the same way we do in prime time games against top 8 sides.

In saying that, we need to think about Viney's role.

Spot on.  All the basic thinkers will go straight to AVB to be dropped, however, please look at his disposals tonight that resulted in 3 goal scoring chains, plus a beautifully weighted ball for Fritsch to run on to late.

Viney doesn't provide you with that.  AVB can give you Viney's tackling pressure and hardness around the ball as well.

Also, got to find a way to get better ball users such as Bowey into the side as Viney, Langdon, Brayshaw & just constantly kill you with their disposal.

If we're going to blood a couple and give a rest to others then I'm all for a big list of changes

Declase in also

Tmac rest

Time to start preparing for Finals, ensure there's some fresh legs

Viney needs to go. He is making our midfield too defensive and he’s a liability with ball in hand and can’t get off the ground fast enough to defend.
I don’t think we need another inside mid to replace him, especially with Vanders playing well enough to justify getting another game next week.
Maybe Melksham can help us hit a target going inside 50, but most likely he just won’t do anything for 98 minutes.

I am guessing no change.

Edit: lol at people suggesting we drop Brown. Literally the least of our problems. Had a better game than Tmac.

Out: Vanderbeg, Viney, Rivers

In: Harmes, Bowey, Melksham

My god Viney is an absolute mess of a footballer.

People saying that he'll get dropped are kidding themselves. Goody absolutely loves him and he's just picked up 32 of the most useless stats ever. So they'll look at that as a win.

To think the club signed him up for 5 years..

Luke Jackson needs a serious spell. Love the kid but he's done nothing for about a month and while he's ruck work is good he's a wasted space up forward. I'd bring Weideman/Daw or if we need to go bit smaller then bring in Melksham.

Out: ANB sick of him prancing around with shocking disposal.

Viney with 32 ineffective disposals but Goody won't do it.

In: Melksham & Harmes.

  • POSTGAME: Essendon

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
