I just got what the D is for! I really don't think you needed to do post graduate studies to accentuate it though.

The umps favoured hawthorn the whole night, and Clarkson has the temerity to sit there in his presser and blame the umps.

Go suck a fat one you [censored].

Did he really? They got 16 frees to 7 in the 2nd and 3rd quarter - including a very dubious run of 6 straight, and a pathetic 50, to start the second half.

Very keen to hear what the coach has to say about that. Doesn’t seem to be up anywhere though.

Our leaders were poor tonight.

The Oliver reaction when Spargo marked in front of him was one of the most poorest thing I've seen from a Melbourne player in a long time.

Oh, while I'm on Oliver, good to see him was still dishing up those pathetic dinky handballs over the head crap.

It wasn't all bad

I thought Vanders played well along with Petty, Hunt, Spargs and Kozzie.

Percentage is no longer a factor as we're very unlikely to finish level on points with anyone

I'm thankful no crowds were allowed because i would have lost the plot if i had to bear witness to that travesty of a game

Plenty of blokes down today which tells me there's little ruthlessness in this team.

I thought the umpires blatantly cheated in the second and third quarters. Hawks happy to put head down and run in Melbourne legs and somehow kept getting free kicks.

Max had the crap belted out of him and nothing. It's why AFL is such an amateur sport.

Appreciate the level headedness. I’m sure I’ll be able to focus more on this stuff tomorrow.

You called me a troll when I said we'd finish 5th because you guys couldn't fathom the idea that we could finish 5th. I had done my research and I looked at all the teams and who they were playing and looked at our form and came up with 5th. So I've now proven that my prediction is the most accurate because you guys couldn't even stomach the idea that coming 5th was within the realms of possibility.

Your forgetting one thing...we didnt actually lose.

We will finish in the top 4 most likely top 2 and im sorry that you will be so disappointed by that result.

We don't have an attacking game plan!

Stop start or bomb it long.

Selfish football, does it matter how many meters are gained off your own boot.

Mentally weak, entitlement and arrogance everywhere, what happened to play angry.

Self satisfied lot, better than those at the end of ladder, no repect given and got run off their feet by a faster, more desperate side.

We play wrestlemania, win the ball and get it through the line, boot it 50 meters and repeat. No intelligent ball movements, nothing with flair or tempo control.

Forwards all tangled with each other.

Handballs to stationary or under pressured players.

Very little outside run.

Goody has them doing too much, and not doing their basic roles. When they face a fast team with pressure they are all out of position.

What happened to our ability to put a rally of goals together in a few 10-15 minute burst.

Where was our swarm of players.

Tended to be individual plays.

Some trying too much, and others not assisting. Need players who aren't in and out of the game.

Was that our best 22?

Time to turn the bathwater tap off, or serve it with those angry pills.

I guess percentage doesn't mean as much anymore, so they will win some by 10 goals.

Gee the MFC are head cases!

We have achieved enough MFC, got to the top of the ladder and held it for a while. Time for some other team to have it, (sarcasm).

For the benefit of posters, this is what Clarkson said ;

“The disappointing part is we had over 80 tackles and only three holding-the-balls, didn’t get rewarded for our super effort in that space. Having said that maybe the reward came just because we’re in the game and in the contest and got us to draw. We would have liked to think with the effort we applied in terms of our tackling we would have got more reward on some of the free kicks.”

And Kozzie, Gus and Clarry (from set shots).

Clarry needs a foot up the [censored].  Spargo marks that ball in front of him and he's whining on the way out.  Accept he probably didn't see you there and encourage.  Awful awful look and hardly part of their so called 'team first' mantra.

How bout you stop with the Hollywood over the head handballs mate and also learn how to kick a set shot (even an occasional one) from 30 to 40 out straight in front or on very slight angles!???

Tracc...for christ sake learn how to give off the first option instead of trying to break two to three tackles so often.  You aren't Dusty mate.  And any chance you could kick a ball softly coming inside 50 instead of drilling it into no man's land or over our forwards heads?  Or even worse straight to the opp!!

And as for Viney's kicking inside.  My God.  Don't get me started.  He's an asset to the opposition here.  Almost always straight to the opp even when surrounded by an opponent or two/three!

No wonder we can't snuff teams out.

With two kicks off HB from one of the worst teams in the comp, they split our defence apart both through the middle and inside 50 and were taking a shot at goal.  Luckily they missed.  Basic but smart/slick footy using hard leads with some skilled kicks and lowered vision.

This is going to take a momentus change in attitude along with some super hard work with set ups/skills (particularly by foot and balance in the middle) to get this mob right, ripe and ready if we're to have any chance of not going out in straight sets.

The forward line has always been a mess.  And we've now been beaten in the middle by the 2nd worst team in the  comp.

Goodwin now making excuses that the opp needs to be respected & they've been playing really well of late.  Come on mate who you kidding.  Go take a long hard look in the mirror and stick a rocket up this team's arze on the track for christ sake.  A few changes also.  Time for softly softly Mr Nice guy is not now.  Stick it up em mentally!  They were soft as butter tonight bar a few and so was your preparation and game set ups.

Anything less than a PF win/GF is a fail from here.

That Clarry whine about Spargo was disgusting

I'm sorry but when are people going to start realising that I speak the truth! This was a bloody disgrace and top 4 is out of the question now. Most likely playing richmond round 1. Good job guys!

I'm not one of the happy clappers. I've enjoyed our successes but have been fully aware of our shortcomings. Chiefly our deplorable structure & system inside 50 and our new-found weakness at stoppages.

However it concerns me greatly that someone's insecurity has them constantly posting on an anonymous fan forum to give themselves pats on the back. And to admonish those who don't enthusiastically join in with the Dr. D back patting.
I hope UROK.

Jnr far too many players (Spargo, Clarry, Gus, Kozzie  ANB et al) can't kick from distance to save themselves.  It's been our Achilles all year and shows no sign of abating.  Good sides kick about 50/50 of these and that allows them to put these teams away.

Our set shot kicking from 40ish or less from pretty much any angle would have to be up there with the worst or we are possibly the worst.

And that's set shot kicking from 40 or less.  Anything outside of that forget it.  Aside from BB (if he doesn't lose his head like tonight), T-Mac or Tracc (IF he can keep his and not constantly play on every time) we have virtually no chance of converting no matter who takes the set shot.

Just one of many reasons but it played a big part in costing us tonight and will continue to do so for as long as they ignore it.

I’ve been meaning to say, you are genuinely and undoubtedly,  the smartest person on Demonland. Not by a little way but by a substantial margin. We all think it. We just don’t say it. Your comments are insightful, fearless and eloquent. And funny. Always.

I just feel that your genius is wasted on us dummies. Why bother? You’ve done what you can. Maybe it’s time to move on to bigger things. Dustin Fletcher Hanger? Or just a sabbatical?

You have possession with 2 minutes left and a goal up and bomb it long to a pack? Are we the only side who doesn't know how to maintain possession to run time off the clock?

Scores are level with 40 seconds left and Max doesn't just bang it forward out of the middle? The aim was to rush it forward to try and get a point but no.

Terrible performance after going 4 goals up early in the second, this team needs to learn to put the boot to the throat of opposition teams to snuff out the contest before they get their tails up and think they're in with a chance. Whoever said it earlier in the thread was dead right, we have it back to front when you come up against poor sides you aim to outwork them but we just try to out finesse them. Bloody frustrating.

Viney dropped, that was as bad a game as I've seen and I'm a huge supporter of his

Suns will roll us next week nothing surer, they are in good form.

Just the post I saw - phone wasn’t  refreshing nicely. And not really the performance (hence the emoji) that warrants us to go back to top of the table
