Are we playing one short?

We’ve done that a few times over the journey. I remember a game were we played 18 short.

Just seem this

Dear Ticketholder,

The AFL and the Melbourne Cricket Club has regretfully advised that due to the unfolding COVID-19 situation in Victoria, the Melbourne v Hawthorn match scheduled for Saturday 17 July at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will take place, without fans in attendance.

No change. Good call and a great position to be in at this stage of the season

And based on the bulldogs game at an empty marvel stadium, we can get the tag as an empty -stadium specialist. Just like the Kangas used to be the Friday night specialists.

I seriously think the Dogs game experience will stand us in good stead, understanding how to generate excitement within the team. hawks may struggle in this department.

wonder who the emergencies are ?

Lockdown announcement stole the thunder of out: medical sub

Is this the most "no change" we've had in a season?

Gotta go close, and the least number of players used I suspect.

Hawks have gone pretty tall, so i guess they're going to try making our big backs accountable, problem is it's 3 lesser known players who may not have the quality to prevent May, Lever and Petty from outmarking them

Seems odd also based on the likely weather…

I was shocked when I saw the in's. Salem, Rivers & Hunt are going to have a field day if we're switched on.

You know how when we lose games someone will inevitably say "We lost it at selection"? There should be a Demonland rule that you can't post that unless you're prepared to say it on this thread (or its weekly equiavlent) first.

Same goes for taking credit after the match for supporting no change.

Sparrow for medi-sub again?

In the wet weather and potentially undesirable conditions this weekend, you would think that the Hawks would struggle, enormously, by going tall and that another ideal setting for young Sparrow is snubbed - he could assist us tremendously in ball movement as part of our mobile, scrounging and fleet-footed mid-size fitness brigade.

expect dorks will try to rough us up a bit.....you can get away with a lot in bad weather footy

It will not be subtle, it will be aggro/deliberated hurt; it will not be seen or penalised once by the umpires, as well. Wish AVB was playing for the Dees in these circumstances.

And no Ceglar, meaning McEvoy has to ruck all day!  He could barely move in the last game he played.

No Hardwick, Jiath and Scrimshaw means their backline "talent" comes down to .....Frost!

No VFL game might change the thinking about the medical sub. If the VFL were to be playing, I could see Sparrow being given game time there and one of the other emergencies being given the nod. But with no VFL, Sparrow moves back into the frame.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
