Well he's certainly been noticed now.

I want to apologise to Harry. I was wrong on this guy. Never thought he would make it and actively called for TMac to go back when Tommo went down. Wrong o  2 counts there!!

Outstanding last night in the Adelaide cauldron.

If it comes down to being in a position where one of he and weidemann want to leave for more opportunity, particularly when Tomlinson comes back, I’d keep Petty. Even if he plays forward post BBB or Tmac

He has been building up and this was his best ever game. Well done Harry.
Whilst his best work has been in defence, he has done a bit as a forward so his versatility will be valuable looking ahead over the coming years.

I'll take 4 intercept marks from a defender every day of the week. Petty was worth his salt and more last night. Absolutely esssential to have a guy who can mark under pressure and apply a bit of heat when the ball hits the deck.

Very important part of our back 6 !!!

Petty really bounced back from 3 or 4 poor games.

Loved the fact that he backed himself - previously he looked too timid to me. Too scared to make mistakes

Could be the making of him to get that confidence.

Amazing that his form has meant we replaced tomlinson easily. i thought at the time it was a massive blow. when tommo comes back we’re going to have serious depth.

Wonder how we line up next year then

I heard Jason Taylor asked why we took Petty in the draft when we already had a depth of tall midfielders on the list. He said when there is a jet available at a pick you didn't expect you have to take them.

" tall midfielder" interesting way to describe Harry! More like " tall defender " I would have thought. Liked HP from day ones draft highlight reel !!!

Petty not the heartbreaker of old! Career best game last night!

Except he's not that "old"! 21 years of age and has only played 21 games.

For a 197cm KPB, many people here were quick to write off a player who is young, learning but with huge potential.

Last year plenty here wanted Petty delisted (along with players like Spargo, Tom Mac, JJ and Hunt).

It certainly is easy to forget how young he is.

Think it's also his style in the the plays his role at the moment without fuss.

Reckon he will be marking a lot more hopefully like he did against the Dogs in the last quarter. Old school and reliable Harry. Suits us just fine!

Breaking news: 21 year old key position defender with 20 games under his belt starting to perform like he belongs.

Petty will be a very good long term key defender or even forward. Anyone who has followed him at Casey would know this.

The knee jerk reaction of supporters to write off players is insane. He's played 20 [censored] games. How well were you doing at your job on day 20?!

Very happy to see this with Harry.

We can be a bit impatient with back men at Melbourne. We should also remember this is a different era to ones gone past.

The backlines blokes like Ryan Ferguson, O-Mac, Nicho and even Chip Frawley and Jared Rivers played in saw them take on responsibility too early and in positions they were not equipped to be taking on at the time. Of all those five players, the only one I could say I'd feel comfortable playing on someone like Jonathon Brown, Travis Cloke, Matthew Richardson or Buddy Franklin would be Chip. The rest had the potential to be decent cogs complimenting more credentialed players, but not much else.

Harry playing under Lever and May, two bonafide A graders, will do wonders for his development. The habits and knowledge he'll pick up, and the pressure he'll be feeling as Tommo will be gunning for his spot at soon as he gets his knee back in shape, will mean we have found a keeper.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
