Says a lot how M Brown would get selected over B Brown should TMac miss...

As was the case last week, M Brown is in front of B Brown at the moment, which is really quite interesting.

Jackson, Melksham, Rivers and Sparrow are on the bench and therefore in line to be dropped for Langdon. So will be one of Melksham and Sparrow. I know who I'd prefer to be dropped of those two.

I reckon Melksham comes out and either he or Chandler will be the medi sub

Come on Mrs McDonald, keep those legs crossed for just one more week ?

Looking at the extended bench it seems unlikely that Lever is in doubt as previously rumored on this site.

Still think Salem may miss with Positive as his replacement.

His problem along with others is he cannot play at present.

I agree there is time but he has to get match fitness. Feels like a similar situation to Bennell last year where he couldn’t get an opportunity at consistency.

He’s signed for a few years with us so he might not be what we need this year but given some time could come good.

BB missed most of last year through injury, a chunk of this pre-season and now isn't getting games in VFL due to Covid. I'm not too optimistic about his chance of making an impact for us this year unfortunately.

Just drop Melksham.

What’s wrong with Salem? I know he finished the game on the bench last week. Never heard what the issue was

Why do I get the feeling that the first 4 named on the bench are the ones playing and Sparrow will once again be sub. What more does he need to do and what is Melksham doing that keeps him in

Bbb was on the rails run until injured.  He has to work hard and kick the door down.  No free passes in that forward line.  If he doesn’t understand that, then he will never get selected.  It’s the system he has to work to deliver.

to me, he didn’t look like he could get separation from defenders.  Needs to build agility and fast twitch sprint capability - he should chat to TMAc, who cut his lunch.

I’d say they’re setting him up for the second half of the year. Richo mentioned on the radio this week that he’s building and increasing his intensity at training so I would suggest the club has just put a timeline in to work on a block of training before they consider him for selection. I’m not too concerned about him at the moment.

Not really. Mitch is much more a like for like replacement for Tmac. Would slot into that mobile high forward, who gets up and down the ground, perfectly. In large part because that is exactly the role he plays!

Can't drop sparrow after 19 disp  and a goal and his ability to get straight into the contest and pace of afl everytime he is called upon. Melksham has to make way. So Langdon for Melksham easy . Selection had been spot on this year unlike the last two and goody had already dropped his mate melky before so I'm sure common sense will prevail

I'm comfortable with being 10-1 and so good that a player of BB's calibre can't get a game.

Forget his past, what we're paying him or his trade cost. When/if he's good enough on form to crack into this elite team known as the 2020 Champion Demons than good for him. If we keep winning, who cares!

Langdon comes in for Baker.

Chandler for Melksham who then becomes a sub.

No disrespect to M.Brown, but I can’t understand why B.Brown can’t get into this team. Has to be match fitness or his knee.

If we traded for B.Brown knowing full well he couldn’t fit into our forward line or into how we play then we were really stupid. You won’t find another team this year with a 60 goal a year forward who can’t get a game.

Weideman does not deserve another game. I’d much rather have M.Brown in than Sam. He’s at least capable of taking a contested mark.

He’s carrying an injury. Goodwin won’t disclose what it is and he’s been struggling since he had the week off for the Adelaide game with soreness.
It’s a golden opportunity to give him a solid 20+ days of rest before September.
If rest is what will really help him, and given we’ve just finished our two toughest back to back games of the home and away season, I think it would be wise to give him this week off.
Of course rest may not help and he may need surgery in the off season.

Alternatively, push hard right now.

But the fact that MB seems ahead of BB says something.

Can’t be serious.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.

  • GAMEDAY: Sydney

It’s Game Day, and the Demons have a golden opportunity to build on last week’s stirring win by toppling Sydney at the MCG. A victory today would keep them firmly in the hunt for a finals spot and help them stay in touch with the pack chasing a place in the Top 8. Can the Dees make it two in a row and bring down the Swans?
