GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs Brisbane

Featured Replies

Brisbane far too good and we have a lot of work to do. A functioning FORWARD LINE would be a good start.

Few positives there other than we're only 20 points down.

The Lions are by far the better team. Tackling, marking, kicking, clearances. better in every department

Not sure what Goody can do other than give everyone a spray

A real cream puff effort that from the Dees. Don't see any evidence that the narrative will change, its a hard game by the look of it. So hard that our 1 wood contested ball is nowhere to be seen.

Lions working much harder. Can it turnaround? Yes, but right now there are way too many passengers.

Why are gawn, McDonald & Jackson all leading to the same spot?

This is part of our issue up forward. I think more than one Dees player getting hands to the ball. Neither mark.

4 to 10 (Brisbane’s way) centre clearances and 14 to 22 (Brisbane’s way) clearances.

That’s the issue right there.

Yep, our mids have been [censored] insipid tonight.

Oliver is unsighted.

And sorry to say but a decades long Achilles heel has been brought to the fore tonight. We lack the mongrel to deal with a pack of dirty bastards like the Lions.

Brisbane’s talls dominating all around the ground. Tommy and weid need to forget that first half and rebound quickly.

Weid should just stay in the goal line and take one of their defenders out of the contest. Can't do anything else.

Flogged in the middle and the rest is history

We just have too many ordinary footballers. No way we are winning a flag this year. Typical Melbourne, pump up your tyres, then deflate you when the crunch comes. So disappointing.

Sam Weideman 1 disposal. Absolute disgrace. I'm off Weideman. He's [censored] useless.

But don’t let Sanctimonious Stewie hear you say that or he’ll quote more meaningless statistics at us.

Commentary team barracking for Brisbane is really starting to annoy.

Weid is a bust.

Honestly would delist the bloke. Provides next to nothing.

We should be 6 goals down. Very very lucky Hipwood hit the post twice.

Second half if we don’t take charge of the centre clearances this will turn ugly. Get control of the centre and we can get back in this. It has been an issue this year against lesser sides but we could rebound off half back but won’t work against this mob while every bounce is going their way.

It starts at the contest. Get some body on them and win the hard ball.

* - 14 inside 50s

* - 11 contested possessions

* - 8 clearances

This has real potential of a blowout

Melb lacking heat -  playing for free kicks and lacking pressure required.....

only upside is we’ve so many players doing nothing that we’ve got upside!!

Brisbane have played exactly how they would have wanted to. Everyone in the game but Charlie Cameron for them. All their prime movers, but we have been dreadful. Absolutely dreadful.

In D50, we haven't won any contests (Brisbane's strength). We've spoiled each other when we should have marked, so communication is poor.

Our mids and forwards have let them waltz the ball inside D50.

There was a play towards the end of the second quarter there, where they went to the right wing and then did an easy switch back to the left wing, nothing fancy. All the Brisbane players were set up there and with no pressure, Neale kicked it long to Hipwood who marked. Terrible defensive transition. The Melbourne of old.

We're not on and we don't look like getting near them. Unless Brisbane stop and we suddenly start working harder, this game is over at half time.

Pids them both of for good CANNOT go far into Sept with these two Hunt stays but Weeds and Melk... see u later

Lions a class above. Too good.

We are off on pressure and our midfield is a real worry. No Oliver no melbourne.

Langdon's importance to the team can't be underestimated

Really,  you guys reckon the umpires are the problem?

we are getting played off the park

they are well organised. We are worried about their tall forwards, doesn't help when they are isolating/ blocking Lever at every chance. they were running in numbers at the end of the Q there lining up to kick goals

Haven't played on our terms at all. if they don't reset it will be 50 points

Melk to HF.  Kozzie into the middle.  Sparrow to the bench.

Weid up the ground.  T-mac to CHF.

BB was a much better option deep tonight vs Weid and should be the go to out of the two from here.

Would much rather have Baker in for the run on one wing.  We have zero run / link up happening and transition is far too slow.

Is Harmes playing on Neale?

needs to switch it up to give then some hope

Always thought thay would beat us if they kicked with reasonable accuracy.

The challenge is to keep it as a "close loss"

  • CASEY: Richmond

    The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
    Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

    It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
