Win a flag and then they're in the conversation.  Theyre obviously  a brilliant duo though,  best in the league.

Agree - they won't be taken seriously in those terms without premiership success.  And really if they are that good (and with Max) then we should be dominating the comp.  It's good to know we've got many years ahead of them playing together!

I'm getting that pre 2019 bathwater feeling and we all know how that ended

The reality is that the two rarely perform at elite level in the same game. If they do then perhaps we have the makings of a great team.

I was think about this the other day as well. But I think it should be extended to be the trio of Gawn, Trac and Oliver. If they can all fire at the same time it is quite a potent combination.

Kerr, Judd and Cousins. With Cox tapping it down their throats. That was Worsfold's only ever tactic. Play those four on the ball.

They have some catching to do on Voss and Black, we desperately need Max back to his best, he’s been poor over the last few weeks.

Disappointing that this was said by Kane Cornes automatically disqualifying this statement as being true. ?

Gee Terlich & Toumpus are stiff..

Actually I was wrong - sorry Kane! His comments were reasonably measured. I assumed the thread title was what he had said.

Clarry, Trac, Viney and Gawn is easily the best midfield we have had in 50+ years

It's the best midfield we have had in  along time, but please, there are a vast number of midfields in front of our current lot who actually achieved success.

Bontempelli and Libba, or Bontempelli and Macrae, or Macrae and Libba, or any of those and Treloar...

Sure, Oliver and Petracca are amazing and the best the MFC has ever had, but they might not even be the best duo in 2021, let alone of all time.

Really?  Just more media fluff. Put some silverware on the shelf first, then we can discuss.

I really hate this articles, this side and this pair has achieved absolutely nothing, 1 year of finals in the 5-6 seasons they have played, the side 1 year of finals in 16 years.  Pump our tyres up once we have actually had an era of success, that may or may not include premierships but 5-6 years of finals at least.

It's a conversation starter. Cornes' job is to start conversations.

It really beats me why people get so uptight about this kind of thing.

Because we have been so bad for so long, we have a history of getting ahead of our selves getting big heads, Cornes knows this and is throwing bait out as he sells more papers slamming clubs like us then praising.  He wants us to get ahead of ourselves and self destruct like we did last year and many other years so he can go whack and be relevant.

OK Petracca and Oliver are having good years, same as last year, but give me Richmonds 3 premierships, or Hawthorns or Geelongs or even the Bulldogs 1 before we put these guys in the same conversation as the midfielders from these clubs.

The club hate these type of articles they are trying to change the culture to be club first and down play individuals

They're fantastic. Love the both of them. Reckon though you could pair the Bont with any of 2 or 3 doggies midfielders to have an equivalent if not better pair.

Christian, Clayton as well as Max, the  best ingredients but the recipe needs tweaking. Like baking a cake, the right proportions of each ingredient, mixing and baking to get the chemical reaction right so as to provide the correct rise and give it the right flavour and texture.

it's media hype; preferable to media ignominy

How lucky are we to have this dynamic duo at our club, absolutely love Clarry & Tracc only time and ultimate success will determine whether they are recognised across the entire football fraternity as bona fide superstars.

To rate a midfield, all 4 players need to be taken into consideration. At the moment we have around 2.75. Viney would bring that to 3.25 IMV. Still short of a perfect 4.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
