Whitfield and Kelly will be difficult to extract plus the coin they are getting at the Giants is way overs. We can't nor shouldn't match it.

Merrett is the one for mine. He is gettable and would add some real polish to our outside game. Would love to see him in the red and blue. He's a free agent so a genuine chance to switch clubs. We should go hard at him.

I think we are loaded up on salary cap.  Unlikely to offer $$$ required for some of the higher ranked free agents.  Probably Kangas and Bombers in the $$$ market with free agents.  Merrett likely to stay at Essendrugs.

Merrett if we have room should be the priority. I would be keen to get Maynard out of the Pies for the right price or Dawson from Swans as the mature Hibberd replacement as it gives flexibility as to how we use Rivers, D Smith and Bowey as they mature in the future. Daniels from GWS would be a good complement to our small brigade and can pinch hit higher.

Whitfield is contracted until 2027 but one salivates at a swap of Brayshaw for Whitfield

way too many dollars though

Baker does not look as though he will make it so the other wing is up for grabs.

One outside midfielder that we have spoken to is Ed Richards.

We are one of three or four clubs that have been laying some ground work.

Think we would get a lot out of him on the opposite wing to Langdon.

Cheap option. Would be a pretty straight forward signing I'd rekon.

sorta wanted a place we can all dump some potential names of interest across the competition to strengthen the side. just been spitballing in my head came up with a couple:

a small forward who tackles AND kicks goals, got McDonald-Tippungwuti front of the queue with 1 yr to go on his current deal, could be gettable given the two sides trajectories

wingman: either of whitfield or jkelly not sure about the getability tho especially with the money jelly is tied on and whitfields length of deal but maybe one might fall out to accomodate the other

half back: recently learnt jordon dawson was OOC and it caught my attention. might keep an eye on how he plays next couple weeks just see what he's like as a mature HB option we could look at. also eddy rich at the dogs has had some clubs ask the question and would suit a need but maybe less proven at the level to date

half forward: lipinski, too good to play vfl but at full strength seems to be on the fringes at the doggies so they can fit 12 mids in, certainly an improvement on melky in terms of touches and delivery but mayve less scoreboard impact, could also see harmes move to this role when all our side is availabvle.

What do we do with Weidermann/Jackson/McDonald ? MaAybe we could swap Melksahm with Jeremy Cameron and pay Geelong out ???

TBH . let the draftees work their way into the system. So far this year we have seen : The benefit of Spargo playing when he was 18 and a longer term policy pay off., holding Jordan, Maturing Sparrow, letting Petty mature into his body and get over injuries..

Then we get to the 2019 Draft in Jackson ,Kozzie and Rivers . All look to be B+ to A Graders

So, really we continue drafting/trading and developing. CHeaper and better in the long term. Pus I do not think there is much wriggle room in the Cap.

Merrett Maynard and E Richards are interesting considerations

the Dees are looking like a having a few years of success and good culture. Sure Zac and Brayden , stay at Windy Hill and AAMI

I would like to target another quick wingman. Firstly so we can push Gus back inside the centre, but mostly so Ed can come play down the members wing more and I can fawn over him like a groupie. Cheers.

I hope we are seriously looking at Cripps.

He’s clearly injured and a star if the game despite what many people are saying now.

1. We can’t afford him

2. If he leaves he’s going back home

3. He is a gun but not someone who fulfills a desperate need

4. See my post above about getting #positivelingers to my side of the G

cripps has been struggling since 2019 really; he looks a shadow of his former self and i don't really think he nor the blues are doing the right thing by continuing to play him if he's that seriously injured

all the tea leaves seem to be indicating he's signing a four-year extension with the bluebaggers

Wingard is an anagram of "drawing" ... a long bow to suggest we'd be interested.

Very very clever....

Kelly would be a dream, but he'd be mad to knock back the obscene coin he's triggered at GWS.

Merrett would be gettable but you'd think the bummers would match all offers and be even less co-operative (than GWS were with Cameron) if he wants out.

Jordan Clark is gettable - elite endurance, great game sense and a top notch kick.

You cant go past having two Ed's on the wings either (Richards and Langdon)!

You would think that GWS would be doing all they can to make him want to move on. That contract is ridiculous.

He is just the sort of player we need but he would have to take a big paycut.

I enjoy watching Merrett play, but is he really a priority for us? Another inside mid.. granted his outside game is also strong i guess.

I'd love to pick up Ben Cunnington. Contracted til the end of next year. Only 29 years old, yet too old to be around for North's resurgence. Would sort out our clearance problems. We'd have currency to get him however $$$ would have to be an issue

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
