If it's the incident i'm thinking of his Elbow bounced off Buddys arm and clipped him high very lightly and Buddy took a huge dive trying to get a free coz that's the only way he was gunna get a kick.

On Buddy. i thought the umpiring was disgraceful, i recall several times where took players on, dropped it and no call made, including 2 in the same play, and yet Petracca copped red hot calls at every opportunity.

I couldn't believe it. Twice in the same play he blatantly dropped the ball and play on was called.

FMD! Hadn't heard this news til I opened this thread.

I clearly recall the incident from the match as some comment was made at the time and it was replayed.

May's forearm connected Buddy on the bicep and then slid up to give him a light cuff on the chin. Buddy then played for the free.

Absolutely zero in it. I cannot believe he has been cited let alone fined. Simple comparison with Hawkins hit on May shows the stupidity and inconsistency with the review process.

The system is seriously flawed.

If I'm a dunce then why was Fritsch's appeal successful and why will Melbourne accept May's sanction?

Good fellow, I suggest you focus less on conspiracy theories and calling people names and more on getting better at predicting outcomes based on logic and reason.

Petracca pushed the NM player into Fritsch.

I guess you're still a dunce ...?

The May decision is exasperating to say the least!

Enough said ........ if I express my unreserved views about the MRC, I'll earn a (Demonland) sanction for myself.

Just smile and wave boys. Smile and wave. Come Grand Final day we release the demons with no send off rule and who gives a stuff if there are suspensions into next year. Premiers 2021. It’s been done in the past and we have been the victims.

Exactly, it's the inconsistency that makes it all bs.

This will count against May if he is cited (by football commentators) again this season I would assume.

I doubt it's worth pursuing an appeal but I can just see another borderline widely talked about infringment at the end of the season against May coming back to haunt us.

Very good point. Players should enter and remain free of any greasy lubricants which are misused as an aid to enable slipping out of tackles. Selwood does it all the time using his drippy greasy arms to slip tackles up over his shoulders. Not much different to a cricketer applying Teflon on their bats to hide small nicks. It’s a form of cheating. Surprised the AFL is not cracking down on the practice. Umpires should be telling offending players to dry towel the oil off and pay a free kick for non compliance.

Go for it. The May fine is a (censored due to extreme abusive foul language and words not even in the urban dictionary) and the MRC should be (censored due to extreme abusive language ) ?

Might have been said already but after that May went to help him up and Franklin brushed his hand away....very grumpy old man.

Well you are a dunce then.  Contact is made with the shoulder which is legal. Buddy is oiled up so then logically the bump slides higher. Play on nothing to see just like the umpire called.

This smacks of petty payback because Fritsch got off & made them look stupid.

We must appeal otherwise it stays on his record then next trivial offence he will cop a week.

Christian is able to regularly look very stupid without the assistance of Fritsch.

See above.
Comments and replays wake Christian from his deep stupor  and cause him to look at it.
And with no comments and replay  (Fritsch behind the play in Tas, Rampe trying to break a neck off the ball) the dumbass doesn’t even look.
Incompetence and / or corruption. Plus laziness.

I watched it in real-time but thought I was watching it in slo-mo: coz the time that elapsed from May’s contact with Franklin, and Franklin’s head being thrown back, was enough to make myself a cuppa.

We should be appealing the fine, asking for a staging fine for Franklin.

While we're at it, throw in a workplace health and safety lawsuit if no action is taken about that appalling off-the ball spear tackle with no purpose except aggression.

Just to add to the dirty Swans list, did anyone else notice the delightful Mr Papley picking/scratching at the back of Harmes head where Harmes had previously been bleeding from?  Charming stuff.

In addition, when the greasy player is tackled the tackler ends up with slippery hands impeding his subsequent ball handling ability.  Oil should be banned both because of this and because it causes unintentional head high contact.

Any body have any idea whether they are going to appeal this. I really hope they do. I can't see any reference to it anywhere. I thought there used to be an MRP section on afl.com.au but can't find anything.

They mentioned it three times on the tv coverage after it happened. I knew he'd at least get a fine because that's the way the tribunal works. The commentators cite the players.

Just ridiculous. There was nothing in it.

How much did Hawkins pay for breaking May's eye socket?

Better question: How much was Hawkins paid for breaking May's eye socket?

Accusation, no evidence, how typical. Self-justifying crap.

Of the two incidents, clearly the more dangerous. But probably not because....you know...it’s Sydney.

Apparently Mummy has been caught again on camera “accidentally” dropping both knees to the back of a prostrate Zac Merrett last round which only invoked cricket chirping from Mr Christian.

The honorary MRO Michael Christian was waiting for directions from the official MRO Brian Taylor. None came. Case closed.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
