The Casey Demons return to their home ground this Sunday when they play host to the Sydney Swans.ย

Start time is the ungodly 11:05am.

Anyone know if itโ€™s on Kayo?

It's on Kayo.

I just read on the AFL siteย this game has been postponed with more info to come next week.ย

ย

Bad news about the postponement, given we finally have AFL & VFL games in the right order.

Is an used AFL injury sub allowed to play the next day in a VFL match, or are they deemed to have played already?

"The Swansโ€™ VFL team will not travel to Melbourne this weekend with their matchย against the Casey Demons scheduled forย Sunday, May 9ย to be postponed.ย The VFL match will be rescheduled and more information will be provided next week."

just our luck

will be interesting to see if it is re scheduled

Perhaps when the Swans play in Melbourne and we can fit it in.

I suspect they won't try too hard

I'm sure there's a Sydney Paddy McCartin and Kayo = KO joke in there somewhere....

Shame about our fringe players missing out on a game this week.ย Weideman may find the delay even more frustrating if he's not selected for the senior team.

Wonder if they'll try and put together a modifiedย scratch match of casey and Melbourne listed players + fill ins.

ย

Well, that sucks!!ย  As if the VFL comp aint bad enough without this!ย  Our list players not in the AFL team need to be playing every week!ย  Not happy, Jan!!

ย (Censored)ย arrangement. ย Likely no opportunity for our reserves toย press their claims for senior selection. ย Weid, Chandler, Bedford, Harmes and others are possible examples. Grrrr!

Both clubs have byes scheduled for next weekend. Hopefully easy enough to just push this fixture back a round.

Bummer for the hopefuls, but the Ones will play so uniformly excellently on Sat night that there'll be no place for them next week anyway...

Yes I thought that. Surely thatโ€™s the common sense outcome. ย

So, you're saying it definitely won't happen, then?

I think it's actually the week after (Round 5). Quite fortuitous really. No non-hotel quarantine casesย in Sydney today so hopefully restrictions will be short-term.

We have a postponed match due to the virus may be considered fair. What I really hate is that VFL teams have at least 2 byes in their season which means no game time forย Casey players this weekend and no game time for Casey players on the 22nd May. We have an even amount of teams in the comp , so why do we needย byes?ย

Itโ€™s been reported that the Casey Demonsย ย vs Sydney game will probably be played on 22 May (Covid19 allowing), meaning that theyโ€™ll be switching the byes around. Point taken about the nonsense VFL Eastern Seaboard 22 teamย competition that allows for a 16 game regular season.

Meanwhile, what about the fans who travelled from the other side of Melbourne to see the game that never took place?

I suppose itโ€™s a testament to the AFLโ€™s lack of interest in its feeder competition that, apart from announcing theย postponement of Caseyโ€™s game, no further word has come through about its status (presumably now a bye) or whether and where it will be replaced on the fixture (the obvious being on 22 May). I donโ€™t know how the coaching staff feel but 3 VFL games over 8 rounds doesnโ€™t sound ideal.ย

Hold your horses they have indicated it will be played later in the season!!

Its too soon to worry about the replay it will happen.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
