I'm not.

I hope he plays exactly the re he has all year. And I suspect he will.

Indeed.

In Gus and Max’s podcast with Harmes, they talked about players all having a second position/role. Guess we might find out today whose second position is “inside mid”.

I suspect Viney will just be covered by half forwards such as Melksham and Kozzy spending more time in the middle.

Melksham and Gus to spend time in the guts you’d think

Really looking forward to see how our forward structure works today.

Mfc has done an extroadinary job in creating one of the best backlines in the comp.

Clubs would score big against us and now we concede very little.

Our midfield seems to be going from strength to strength.

Now lets get our fwd line doing the same.

To be honest its actually being firing quite well. We have been scoring well despite not having a big ff kicking  a bag or two every week.

We have also been quite inaccurate.

Having said all this we have the firepower to kick 100 points plus every week.

Just need to find the right combo.

Would be interesting to see how Baker does at HFF. See what he is like around goals

no risks with Viney. Good to see

Brayshaw should go nowhere now that he's finally found a good spot on the wing. Perhaps we can try it when the game is done and shift McDonald to the wing to see what that looks like, but our best side has Brayshaw on the wing.

Predicting Fritsch to have 10+ scoring shots today. Whether that equates to 3 or 8 goals is up to him

Another really good test for Baker - if he is the one to replace Viney (although Chandler might have been handy but played the last match with Casey Thurs night). Baker needs another test or two as his genuine pace gives us a three-pronged, full ground speedway (Hunt, 'Baker', Kozzie/Spargo) that is very handy for spacemakers. Enjoy the game, folks. We have got this one.

i've got that building sense of apprehensive dread that can only come from the mfcss deep within my soul

we SHOULD get this done...

This timeslot is really nice

much preferred to the 3:20 time slot which in winter means it's cold and dark by games end.

At the waterfront hotel. Beautiful day, sun is shining and beers flowing , hopefully very soon dees are winning.

And Dees fans everywhere. Long line to buy a beer.

With Ben Brown finally coming in I'm having a happy moment remembering how worried so many people were that our season would be over by now.

Some people were even getting aggressive at anyone who stayed positive after the loss to the Dogs in the pre-season.

Keep the run going, Demons - you could actually change personalities!

Viney... having a good run of form and ... The foot

Has the curse returned

nah I'm confident it's nothing serious. He's obviously a late withdrawal due to soreness.  so it can't be too bad. I'm sure he'd play if it was against anyone else.  Using the week to rest him.

Yup. I’d say we out number North supporters 10 to 1

Viney out (Toe) Baker in, Jones sub

Hopefully not a serious flare-up and Viney's withdrawal is just precautionery

Can;t see Baker playing anywhere other than wing so reckon Gus plays inside

Perhaps Brown goes into Melksham's spot and Melksham goes into the middle (at least more often)?

Whilst late outs are disappointing any sign of  any level of soreness related or near his foot we need to back Viney off. Hopefully that is all it is. Interesting to select Baker over Jones even with the late out. Hopefully we don’t mess with Brayshaw on the wing just as he is getting it. I would prefer to see Pickett rotated through the pivot more with Melksham and have Baker play half forward and relieve as third winger. This is the challenge with Casey playing Thursday and us Sunday that I suspect if both were today Sparrow would have bee named emergency and been played. Instead he had to play Thursday to avoid missing a week without a full game of conditioning.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
