Saints are coming off a wet slog 2 weeks ago.

lol

Last season should be scrubbed from the history books, the Saints making the finals in that dog of a year means nothing nor does Richmonds flag or neales brownlow

Essendon will finish bottom 6 even if they win today.  Saints are fighting with us for a finals spot.

Rather the the Bombers win this one

Maybe the Saints really aren’t much chop.

They did, in the opposite direction. Last seen heading south at high speed. Part of a convoy that included North, Carlton and GWS apparently.

Petracca’s excellent season can stay though.

Didn't take long, @Better days ahead.

I'm expecting the "Essendon have gone past us" post any minute now. They're beating them by 50 points to half time whereas as we could over mange the 18 point win to full time.

Actually, when i put it like that. I think Essendon have gone past us.

The truth of football, particularly early in the season, is that ANY team can beat ANY other team. If you’re a bit off and the oppo are on, it’s even likely to get ugly. Momentum is EVERYTHING, and if it can be sustained, it breeds confidence like a virus. Likewise the converse will make you look slow, unskilled and lacking method if you're trying to come back from a margin of perhaps 5 goals. Beware teams with nothing to prove or significant expectations to meet. If the Dees should be aware of anything tomorrow, it’s that. Not confident. At all.

I think last year suited the saints, shorter quarters for a quick side was perfect now they are longer they can’t go the distance, last week they killed us in the second for 15 minutes but that was it, too many burst players

I still think Essendon suck!

Swans won a flag in 2012 & dogs in 2016 and both have bottomed out somewhat and have managed to rebuild/top up/ develop their lists to possibly contend this year based on their form right now ...MfC still working on consistency to win games and play finals .. enough said

Those academy players are really a gift to the Swans over the last few years and even though he hasn’t played yet,  Jamara UH the number 1 draft pick  given to a finals side last year is another gift.

I have noticed that over recent years, when a team loses to Melbourne, they seem to go on a losing streak for a couple of games.

On Sydney, one thing they always have is players who use the ball well.

Zak Jones is one of the rare players who wasn’t a great kick and they moved him on.

You would never see them with a player like Jayden Hunt.

A reminder that it's early days: last year the Dogs, St Kilda and Geelong were all 1-2 after three games, but made finals.

In 2019 Collingwood and Richmond were 1-2 and made finals (Richmond of course won the flag).

And in 2018 Collingwood and Geelong were 1-2 and made finals (Collingwood a kick from the flag).

So whilst teams like Brisbane, St Kilda and Collingwood are all going to be 1-2 this year, it's too early to write them off.

That 3rd quarter was one of the worst I have seen.

Had we kicked straight last week, we'd have done this to St Kilda too. They're an overrated side and overachieved last year.

Gee we only beat the saints by 3 goals. Essendon are up by 10, so what does that say about us? Surely essendon aren't that great. They have all these injuries and are flying.

The saints have just gone backwards. I mean they were a top 8 side who won a final and are getting thrashed by a basket case team.

that's one way to skin a cat I suppose...

you can only play against the opposition -banking wins where you can.

seriously, there is only a marginal % that a team needs to be off (see Richmond today) that makes them winners, to losers to getting smashed... week in, week out...

It's a marathon... so treat it like that.

I’m happy with 2-0 but I’m also wary that other clubs have improved. Sydney still managed to beat us the last two times we have played

wise word OD, wise words.

Are you back in the great state of victoria yet?

Yes came back early on Thursday, and then of course all went in the good direction.

Brisbane and Collingwood are still in the thick of it.

St Kilda are miles off. GWS should have beaten them but for a massive choke by the Giants. Essendon and ourselves beat them easily. They have a tough run in the next 3 against the Eagles, Port and Richmond. I reckon they’re in big trouble.

Are Essendon taking the edge off our win by rag-dolling StKilda? Or did we set this up for Essendon...

I hope you realise OD that the only reason we allowed you back into the state was because of the positive comments you made while you were in banana land.

Please do not revert back to the old negative you or you might find yourself being deported.

This is embarrassing stuff from St Kilda, it would be great viewing if it was not against Essendon.
