What they're saying down at Cockburn Central

  • No offence Melbourne fans reading this, this all the hallmarks of a mid-season coach firing.
  • If May doesn't get up we should win it easily IMO.
  • Looking at both forward lines it could end up the lowest score in AFL history.
  • The Cairn's catastrophe was where we took Melbourne's last glimmer of finals hope last season and flushed it down the toilet.
  • Max Gawn likely to do battle with the inexperienced Lloyd Meek. If Meek can just not get absolutely smashed by Gawn then we are in with a good chance.
  • Gawn best on. Tabs will be double teamed by May and Lever all day.
  • Lever seems to be made of the same brittle substance as Sturt.
  • Unfortunately, I think Melbourne win this by 2-4 goals. Too many injuries and no forward line for us.
  • I'll be very surprised if we kick 65 points.
  • They also have no forward line at the moment only Mcdonald who looks very ordinary now days and Fritsch.
  • The hype-train has us playing finals. If that's going to be the case, this game is a 'must win'.
  • The biggest error the club made in the last 5 years was trading for Hogan instead of picking Ben King at the draft.
  • It is highly likely this weekend's AFLW game between the same two clubs will have a bigger scoreline than Melb v Freo in Rd 1.
  • I don't think that either team is going to do much damage in 2021 .... except to their supporters.
  • Melbourne are trash! I hate to say it but If we lose to them we are in the back alley right alongside them!
  • I think we should be good enough to beat Melbourne. Their pre-season has been awful and I don’t see any growth coming in that list from last year. We should win.

Normal insular comments from a supporter group. To be expected and certainly no worse than those on here who post that we are top 4 material.

The first comment was a beauty and spot on. Goodwin would be looking for a real estate agent if Freo rolls us this weekend as I think they might.

I don't think too much of that is wrong to be totally honest..

Realistically it's hard to see either team scoring a whole lot, Gawn is likely to dominate the ruck but we've seen that doesn't mean we will do anything with that dominance.

I think our best chance is to play Petracca forward quite a lot. pound for pound he's our best avaliable forward, and we've gotta hope Clarry, Gus and Harmes can get on top in the middle.

I love it. Footys back and so comes all the rubbish that goes with it.

For some reason as a member/supporter you do take offence when really you have almost zero responsibility for how the result will turn out. Likewise, it's absolutely great to give my mates a heap of [censored] when their team is hopeless.

They must be writing their own articles over there! Have not heard this once!

Really?  I thought it was quite decent when we beat Richmond despite having half a dozen of our first team sidelined.  I do agree that we were smashed by the Doggies, but Fremantle don't have anywhere near that level of class on their list.

I know it's dining out on past glories but we have 12 premierships cups in our trophy cabinet. How many does Freo have? That's right. NONE. Losers

Because of that statement, BDA, you may have now sentenced us to lose against Freo. How could you have been so thoughtless?

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
