Majak if needed could be used on some tall  opposition with experience  Has played some good games and kicked multiple goals where his best was 6 goals against the Bulldogs and 4  goals in an Elimination final against Adelaide 2016.  Mind you he has finals experience.

In a game against the Dees  in 2017 he had 18 HO and 7 tackles rucking against Max so he is no slouch  and he is  good insurance to have,  Dees lost that game by 4 points and  Majak played a part in the win.  Played 18 games in 2018.and 2019 of course  had personal issues however l believe he is worth the risk .

One thing I liked in those video clips apart from the marking, goal kicking ability  was  the tackling-he is prepared to chase and effectively tackle and negate Opposition forward thrusts.

Why not? Being dropped by North is no measure of his worth. They are a penniless basketcase who had to off load players to save the sinking ship in desperation.

After what Majak has been through I think it's great MFC have offered him a lifeline. If nothing comes of it, then so be it. He goes to play with his brother and Brent Harvey at North Heidelberg, which I'm sure he will be happy with as well.

For what it's worth I thought the photo of a smiling Majak wearing the Melbourne colours in the practice match last year conveys the joy he felt playing footy again.

Whatever happens I wish him well for 2021.

What would I do?  Dunno but the footy season like Covid, maybe another year of endurance, patience and stoicism.Joy maybe something to hope for in another winter of discontent.

A glimmer of the old master’s prose returns to be snuffed out some sub-shakespearean pessimism.

Where is the optimism of younger men, surely the Sun also rises?

4 pages in and finally someone who gets it. Thanks OD, for a minute there I thought I was going to have to say something derogatory about the average Demonlander ... again.

Last time I did that I came under fire with a lot of people responding thinking my comments were directed at them.

I really appreciate the way you raised this, unfortunately I'm not that subtle.

We need an insurance policy and this guy - while not a world-beater - provides the widest range of coverage currently available. This looks an astute move.

Right now he’s in no better/worse position than OMac being invited to train with Carlton.

For SEN listeners, Alan Richardson will be on with Garry and Tim this morning. Didn’t quite catch what time exactly, I’m sure they will talk about Majak.

I also read on the B Brown thread the HS wrote Brown is out for several months, maybe Richo can tell us that’s a typo and that’s not the case. If anyone catches the interview an update would be appreciated, TIA.

I can see the clubs reasoning behind this move.
with OMac gone and Preuss as main man up north. Then some unexpected injuries, we needed “depth”. For Justin I assume. And we have had a couple of times this year already.
But I do not like this it as a feel good measure. I would have preferred to give Harley B another chance as feel good. Or OMac even.
however good luck to MD . Welcome to MFC. hope your time here is one of success in your football and life.

doesnt make a lot of sense to me. We have some average fwd back up options, we don’t need more

If we were after a ruck back up I’d have preferred we picked a youngish ruckman from the vfl or other lower levels that might develop

Ok I understand 2 forwards have got injured, I also understand he is 29 and a poor to average footballer.

Rather use the rookie spot on a younger tall who may turn out good instead.

Are you serious? How many more chances does he need?

You do realise this [censored] cost the club 50k for not following simple lockdown rules and when the club tried to reach out to him for the concern of his welfare, he spat it back in our face and went on a drinking binge. There was a 1 year contract right in front of him and [censored] it away.

I was all for supporting him at the start but good riddence to him.

I'd rather bring in people who will bust their [censored] for this footy club.

I hope Burgess can unearth a tank under all that muscle.

For the record, I support this decision but have noticed he can conk out pretty quickly in quarters.

Classic DL thread. The usuals pot the club like they do with everything else, and a few see it for what it is - a training invitation.

I like it - Majak is a role player with occasional glimpses of better, nothing more. He would be well down the options from week to week and not costing much in $$$.

The guy is a great athlete with absolutely no football nous. He has been in the AFL system almost 10 years for 54 games, and there are pretty clear reasons for that. He is also 30 in three weeks. This would be a laughably stupid move, so pretty much in line with our list management over the past few years.

Maybe, just maybe, Goodwin, Lamb and Co shouldn't have offloaded every key position player from the 2018 list and we wouldn't be in this position.

People get very exercised about giving a rookie spot to a 54-game player who’ll provide cover for ruck and both ends of the ground. I’m not expecting Brownlow votes from this bloke. Probably won’t even play. Hard to think of a more uncontroversial decision.

I guess there will always be contrarians.

Dazzle  only my opinion,  and I accept yours,  I keep making errors at times myself, we all make mistakes    part of life.

Far more upside for HB, yes he stuffed up but the MFC should have managed him better, understand we were in a bubble etc. But with a little help he might still be here.  What he did was not impeachable. more unfortunate actions. Who knows what was going through his mind.

There was every possibility the HB would or could win a game for the DEMONS just from his impact on a match.

I doubt that MD will have that effect or impact.

HB and MD obviously come with baggage from their past.

Good Luck to both of them, one in DEMON colours for at least this year  and one not.

MD may not even make ‘demon colors’.  He has to impress to gain even a rookie spot.

HB - broke all his agreements and cost himself a contract.  Bubble and family issues not ideal for someone in his situation, but it was his spot to lose.

OMAC - please, please, lets not go there again.  How many pages of threads have there been on this poor bloke?  He is not in the frame to be a Demon next year, so let it go...

How do you not know that club provided little support? Do you have evidence to back that up?

From all he reports he was provided with a huge amount of support alongside his partner and daughter. The WAGS at the club really made his partner feel at home in the Hub and coaching and welfare staff were able provide necessary support for him and his family.

A question about the process...does a player have to be training with us to be eligible for selection? Or could we select anyone we like, such as a player training with another club or someone not even training with an AFL club at all?

So can we just get him for nothing like we did with Harley last year? Why not if it will cost us nothing. He can also take the ruck freeing maxy up and we won't have to send Tom in there.

Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
