Obvious one is who will we invite to train with view to list.

all the speculation in the lead-up to the draft had us grabbing max holmes; how serious was our interest in him and what was your reaction when geelong made the trade to bring him in and - theoretically - gazzump us by taking him?

I was wondering if not having a Watson on the list made is less likely we were actually keen.

How did the recruiting team go about assessing the Victorian prospects given the lack of exposed form?

are you @DeeSpencer in disguise?

Probably an impossible question to answer

But which Vic players did JT foresee rising up the rankings the most should there have been a proper season played?

After bringing in 4 first round draft picks and 6 inside 34 over the past two years, are we likely to see a greater emphasis on trades and free agency to target list needs?

I would like to know if JT is worried about the club not having a 1st round draft pick in next years draft given that it is meant to be a very very strong crop.

How did the virus impact your ability to identify draftees?

How much input do you have outside of Demonland, it looks like a fertile ground for people who know all of the best draftees and a massive $$$ saver after covid.

How many clubs in total laughed and hung up on Lamby when he attempted to move us further up into the first round?

I’d take it a little further:

How many calls did we make on draft night to trade picks?  How many did we receive?  (In essence, were we happy with sliding 18/19)?  Reading the Collingwood article in the Age, they had calls from nearly everyone but us.

Question who decides the deficiencies in the playing list, that then determines the selections in the draft,

and how early are these deficiencies  identified and how early are  the targets,   targeted.

Thanks

Would love to know where JT sees the new draftees starting their career, position wise. Would also like to know if he thinks they are potential round 1 starters (pending a good pre-season), or if they'll need a bit more time.

Who did Jason like if we still had our first round pick. which ended up being Pick 11 (Adelaide)? Just curious

Also, how does he see recruiting next year with so much footy missed in 2020?

Thanks

I have about 15 questions about the leaks and need to better protect our draft board but I’ll save those.

1. Obviously I’d like to know what role they see the new guys in and if he’s concerned about Bowey’s size or Laurie’s speed (he won’t be but it’s worth asking).

2. Plans for the 2 remaining list spots and train on players?

3. Tall and medium defensive depth and lack of list changes there.

4. ‘Targeting’ certain attributes in recruiting, why? Sounds like it goes against best available which is dangerous

5. A review of previous drafts. What’s his process? Did the clubs mantra of ‘competitors’ overshadow the need for skills and run and lead to us playing catch up?

Was going to be my question as well. Jason how is it determined who is on the list, is it a combo of recruitment staff and coaches ie these are the best players in the draft. Coaches then say these are the attributes we want in our team or are missing so who fits that criteria? And who wins ie Jackson last year wasn’t a need as such but is talent overrides the coaches objections?

Ask him whether there will be a draft day video coming like we had last year

Q: What was the rationale behind trading next years first round pick for essentially 2 early second round picks this year?

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
