Absolutely Paul thank you for the part your Club played in his development.
Your  members must be so proud as no doubt would his parents etc. and now all the Dees fans.  He is looking at a special Joel Selwood type career !!

Msybe not 35 Finals but I hope so but the finals so early in career.

Go Bowser!! And Go Dees.

Obvious tactic by Brisbane last night to get into him physically and try to put him off his game.

Didn't work and looked particularly stupid when Joe tried it.

May stepped in and Joe went back in his shell.

The kid meanwhile was unflustered...

I was very nervous for him playing in his first final but like all classy players he can absorb physicality and play his role without a backward glance, he is going to be a real beauty. Remember when Travis Johnstone played early in his career he looked fragile but always bounced up.

Well done Jake Bowey you should be very proud of yourself.!!!!!

Joe really isn’t very bright, is he?  Thankful we didn’t go near him when he was in the market.  Exciting at his best but a buffoon more often.

Jake had a couple of errors, but those who are calling for him to be dropped can’t have watched the whole match.

I don't think it is a matter of being dropped.  He may need to make way for a small back who can play a lock down  role.

This is currently a deficiency.

When was the Daniher rough up? I missed this part.

Anything Joe does, looks stupid, if they were looking for the AFL moron of the year, Joe would win hands down.

This kid has played five games, his poise is amazing. Rarely wastes a possession:

5 is 105 in Bowey years.

So based off that number of games, you could be saying that it's like he's been playing for five years already.

First quarter. After Oliver's first goal.

I have to commend the kid. I thought he might be the vulnerable one leading into the game given it’s finals footy. Usually tougher and quicker and more pressure.  Yes he made two mistakes and the Lions seemed to target him for physical pressure.  Only 4 possessions to half time and nil in the second quarter (probably because we dominated).

But he collected 10 possessions after half time and was composed. He won the hardball when it was his turn.

Given he played limited footy in 2020 and with all the Casey fixtures disruptions, I thought we would have him a development player this year. And a year in the gym would be needed.

But I think he has generally looked relatively comfortable at the senior level and his kicking and decision making is good.  Adds to our “connection going forward”. The turnovers from the weekend may have been nerves and he seems to be a quick learner. Not sure why he has recorded zero tackles in the last 3 weeks.

Hope he gets the chance again in two more games. 5 wins from your first 5 games. 7 from 7 would be even greater.  It would be quite a story.

Reckon Bowey started that. Got stuck into Zac Bailey after Clarry kicked it - I think Daniher was just backing up a teammate. Play on.

I didn't see the incident, just the Daniher reaction, then Max, Viney and May. Diffused pretty quickly so I doubt there was much in it. Agree, Play on.

Our back 6 will only get better, we had Rivers, Bowey, Petty and Smith back there with May/Lever/Salem, that is 4 young inexperience players with 3 experienced players.  I love how Bowey uses his body to move his opponent reminds me of Jetta, knows he is undersized so needs to make that contact to move players off the ball.

What a game from the Young Kid, looks about 13 running around. But he plays like a 100 game veteran

Took him about 5 minutes to adjust to Finals Pressure

Then he just hit his straps

Great to watch

He is possibly going to replicate Joel Sellwood's career. Not necessarily as Captain Either Riv or Dogga could have that parcelled up for the 2027,s on !!!

Pretty funny really, as soon as May came into the frame Joe backed down at a rate of knots.

Besides getting caught holding the ball by Zac Bailey and one or two minor errors I think Jake Bowey did pretty well.

He will definitely learn a lot from playing in a final and experiencing the immense intensity of what it is like.

Playing only his 5th game of AFL football in a final is pretty impressive. However, what I like about him the most is how clean he is with the ball. He could become Melbourne's own version of Caleb Daniel perhaps?

I hope Jake goes from strength to strength with the Demons!

To be quite honest he looked completely unfazed by the fact it was a final, he looked completely comfortable out there. Just another day at the office.

Just saw the Bowey incident.

Bloody well done to the senior players who went to bad for Bowey. Salem, May, Viney, Oliver all went in and had a crack at Daniher and made a statement right then.

Senior leaders right there.

Boweys composure is incredible for such a young player. reminds me of a Luke Hodge in that he just doesn't panic down there.

The most pleasing part is they all went him but in the right way. Got in his face, let him know they wouldn’t stand for it but remained in control to not give away a free.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
