MFC is a 3 goal better side with Oscar gone

It is difficult to comment on Oscar, such is the sentiment of DL contributors to his game and successive performances. We all wish him well at another club but our combined consciousness reduces our ongoing confidence in his game both now and in the future. At present, it does look like we are a 3-goal, better side without him.

Before there was Oscar McInerney, there was OMAC.

I note he received the ol' DCM today. Loved him, and he did well to almost get to 100 games.

Hmm....

Can't say I agree with this at all.

Don't really want a pile on here because he's career is officially over, so I'll leave it at that.

"really"?

Played with a fractured back from 19 years old onwards. Good career all things considered.

Smart guy - onto bigger and better things from here I reckon.

Well yeah..?

Jake just got to OMacs Melbourne goal tally. Both were rippers and I went nuts each time. Nicest bloke and I wish him well with the rest of this life stuff.

Played in a Prelim final for Melbourne. Not many in the past 50 years can say they did that.

Another year like this one for Tomlinson next year as a 30 year old with his contact ending, and you'd just about rookie Omac as depth on half the money instead.

Let's he honest, most people didn't know he was still on a list this year.

Guilty as charged.

Oscar is a smart cookie. He'll be fine post footy

The Big O, fond memories, all the best

Had decent natural ability but never had the confidence/physicality to make it

Good luck to OMAC, whatever his next step is.  Would be behind Turner and Tommo at the dees, and the Blues gave him a shot.  Another AFL gig might be a stretch given his recent injury history, but I Will remember him as a demon who tried his heart out week in, week out for us.

I don’t see the point in regurgitating negative opinions of his calibre whilst he played for us and I think it’s pretty poor.

Best of luck for the future OMac, not that you’d be reading this.

O Mac started the last two seasons well for the Blues until his back started playing up. Looked like he was going to hold a regular spot in the backline, according to some Carlton fans he was ahead of Young at the start of this year.

Most . . . really? I wonder what the evidence is for that assertion.

I follow all the ex-Deez in the AFL. I wonder if 'most' on 'Land do as well.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
