Hey @Skuit.

Don't you love it when you start a 'legit' thread, and people pop up with superfluous posts...

Let's get real and breakdown mail from rumours.

Out's

Preuss - GWS request, Player has requested. It has been suggested that his going price will be a late 30's, early 40's pick

McDonald T - likely staying unless a good deal comes for him, Rumour only

ANB - trade bait but heard nothing specific, Rumour only

Hannan - WB interest, Rumour only

Jetta - coll interest, Rumour only

In's?

B Brown - apparently we are frontrunners. Some rumours suggesting that Collingwood are very interested and so is he.

I Smith - apparently likely to come. Reported that we have interest but so too do the Cat's.

T Phillips - no link to dees that ive heard. Damien Barrett stated that: 'A left footed wingman. That's what the Demons want, and two have the bait in front of them: Isaac Smith and Tom Phillips.'

N Hind - rumour. Agreed.

C Hooker - read that he could seek a move possibly to Melbourne. First I've heard of it.

Meldon.......good name.....last paragraph

I've attempted a few utopian-minded forum threads over the years and they've all instantly collapsed. Silly Skuit. Learn the internet already. There was that one time I was pushing for two game-day threads: one for shouting into the web-aether about TMac and the umpires and another to discuss actual game-day tactics and what was going on on-field. Yeah, good luck with that. Curious to hear your psych opinion on why posters find others with 'inside word' so threatening to their own self-esteem. ?

Would be great to have a single thread where those who feel they have an inside word on trade gossip have a place to share it free of argument or discussion etc. Sauces are great but not necessary. I get tired of constantly opening the individual player threads every day hoping for some news and it's just people bitching about Simon Goodwin and the credibility of other posters. Put it here and we can all just accept it or dismiss it and move on, even if it's in riddle-form. For the record I have zero links to the club whatsoever, but appreciate other posters who take the time to pass on what they've heard, whether it's credible or not.

Hey Skuit,

Hang in there. It is a great idea, pity the Benny Hill wannabe's got hold of it.

In a futile attempt to get the thread back on track this is what I've heard. Some has been posted elsewhere.

Ben Brown has been disenchanted at North for quite a while and is fed up with constant criticism from the powerbroker who wore #11. He has wanted out from very early this season.

Collingwood were sniffing around Jeremy Cameron and were prepared to offload Treloar if they thought Cameron was a chance.

Clayton Oliver will be at Melbourne in 2021.

Had a lot of respect for the hard-nosed #11. But would be interesting watching him try to contain Brown and his Inspector Gadget Arms in modern-day footy. I suspect the reservations around Brown from some of the posters on here are due to his more gentle and low-key approach. Still get's the job done, but maybe less exciting than Cameron crashing a pack.

Tomato sauce is definitely necessary. Meat pies are no good without it. I think you mean sources...

And in typical fashion the tough guys, like Archer, only get tougher as the years roll by.

It takes all types to create a winning list, we are the ultimate example of that with our insistence on medium height, inside types.

Or maybe I'm a high-brow writer/editor in real life and would never ever remotely consider eating a meat-pie and I'm joking? Good pick-up though. Respect. Any word on who might be coming to the club?

I'll put my balls on the line for ya mate. A few things have already happened, but got some whispers (of varying degrees of source quality) to tide you over. (Need the distraction from the Grand Final tbh, depressing)

OUT
TMac - All depends on medicals (ankle injury). Player and club want the change, opposition interest will determine it.
ANB - Apparently some interest from the Crows. Not a lot of noise tho, but tbf he's not an exciting player to talk about.
Preuss - Melbourne will try and do a deal to see them go up the draft order. Very keen on Macrae, who they think will be available at pick 9 (which coincidentally is likely the compo pick GWS will get for Williams).
Coaches - Plapp and Mathews gone. Very likely more to follow them.
Admin - Told earlier in the year Mahoney is likely gone. Haven't heard anything lately though. Richardson talked about as a potential replacement for him. Very very sketchy at this stage so don't bank on this one, but not sure Bartlett is 100% safe either.
Other - Still think Burgess will leave (hoping he doesn't of course).

IN
B.Brown - Pending physical, which will determine the club's interest and offer which likely then determines Brown's decision. 2nd round pick to North and a 3 year deal on 500k for Brown is the price. I know some here have talked about his nature/personality, but apparently after the zoom meeting Max was absolutely sold on him.
I.Smith - Very likely, but not a done deal yet.
Saints Player - Told we were chasing a 'young, quick' Saints player. Others here posted they heard Hind was being mentioned, so could be him, potentially could be Long.
Coaches - Leppitsch has been approached, ball totally in his court. Another former Lion also approached to get involved with the club in some capacity too (not Voss). 2 other highly rated assistants in the pipeline, but promised I wouldn't say.

could the other former lion have been craig macrae? he's recently been announced as leaving the tigs post-grand final to go to the hawks

leppitsch on 3aw a few weeks back said that he is leaving the afl environment 'for the time being'

Nah, not Macrae from what I heard. Don't want to mention the specific person just yet tho. (Sorry, know that's annoying)

Yeah, and Leppa is probably more likely to do that, but the Dees have approached him anyway so never know.

Great update

whats the likelihood with Macrae. Can we bring in both him and Brown do you think?

He's referring to Jack's brother Finlay who is in this year's draft pool.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
