Finals Week 2

Featured Replies

Those are Melbourne times so only 6:50/40pm in Qld.

30 degrees and a stiff wind predicted for each day so it could be a tough slog for the competing teams.

Richmond and who knows with the other

Head says Tigers, heart says Saints.

In the other game, I'm torn between dismay that one of them will win and go through to a prelim and elation that one of them will lose and be eliminated.

Would have to be a mammoth effort by the Saints to get up against the Tigers tomorrow night. They have lost three important players and off field had the distraction of the Long tribunal and appeal. I’m not sure they’re as focused as they should be.

The Geelong v Collingwood game is line ball. The Pies got over the line last week thanks to a lot of things going their way. If they can keep up that momentum, the game’s theirs against an oldish side that are starting to look tired at the wrong end of the season.

Tigers and Cats.

Saints without Ryder, Long and Carlisle will give a yelp for three quarters but lose by 23 points.

Collingwood were great last week, but will hit a brick wall after their trip to the west. Have a feeling Hawkins will have a day out.

I have no particular fondness  for the Saints but I’d love them to beat the Toiges. Just can’t see it happening

The filth must be on a roll after fixing up the Weagles.  I reckon they’ll win quite easily!! They are also good value @ 2.35 on Sportsbet

Jeelong Straight Sets

The Saints will have a real crack tonight. Nothing to lose. Ratten will have them pumped

Richmond over Saints, though I'd be delighted if this went the other way.

Geelong vs Collingwood? This is like being given the choice of dying from either Ebola or dysentery.

I went 0-4 last week so I will say tigers and the filth.

I reckon Geelong ware beating Collingwood.

This is a team that beat St Kilda by 10 goals on a Monday and then backed up on the Friday to spank Port by another 10 goals.

It would be an absolute indictment if this full strength side goes out in straight settys.

Sadly I think tonight will be on sided. If Ryder was in for the saints I'd give them a chance but I think the tigs will be to experienced for them. In saying that I hope the saints can win.

I hope the cats win tomorrow night, only based on the fact I do not collingwood getting to a prelim giving them a chance to get to the gf.

One set of rules for Richmond and a different set for the rest of the comp

Geez it’s embarrassing we are out of the finals with rubbish teams like the Saints playing

The holding the ball, incorrect disposal rule has reappeared! Been missing for 6 to 10 rounds but now back. Amazing.

The MFC should be ashamed we finished below the Aints

Seriously. There is nowhere to hide

i doubt any of the players are watching though, it’s holiday time for them

Cotchin tackle... would be 2 weeks for ANB

That was shocking, incredibly dangerous and Cotchin always seems to get away with it.

Yep, will probably get a fine for that but honestly deserves weeks.

In a fair system he would get at least a week but as we know it's not a fair system.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • GAMEDAY: Gold Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons are back at the MCG and have a massive challenge ahead of them as they take on Premiership contender the Gold Coast Suns. What do you want to see from the Dees today?

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
