Trade Fritsch

Is this the same Fritsch who kicked the sealers late in the game? Did you go early again Picket?

This thread is what happens when posters  & their football "gravitas" are stuck in about 1977

I know who I would rather keep between Weideman and Fritsch.  At least one of them actually marks the footy.....

Fair point, although the one thing Weid has improved upon is his ability to at least make a contest and bring the ball to ground.  In the past he was just beaten in the air and they would run it out of defence.

Obviously he has hit a rough patch, but I still think he is our future up forward.

Picket working himself up into premature speculation again.

Would you entertain Fritsch for a power Key Forward?? Say Jesse Hogan?? or another?

I had the same problems with Jesse that I have with Fritsch. Neither tackle or work hard enough to be defensive, so probably not.

No way get rid of Fritsch. Fix his kicking and he is a nightmare for backmen. Remember Petracca's set shots early in his career? Bad kicking is fixable. Footy smarts is almost unteachable.

I still don’t think Weideman is strong enough physically Wise. Needs to bulk up the upper body so he can compete with the bigger opposition key defenders.  A stronger body might give him additional confidence and cause real damage when crashing those packs.

Fritsch is slightly built of course  but is a different player to Weideman. A very good reader of the ball in flight and has outstanding footy nous and great hands. He will kick 8 goals in a game before his career ends.

Weideman is too slow too. Needs to improve his agility

Gawd Ethan I would have kicked that!!!!

If we didn’t have so many other issues in our forward line I would consider it but we do so I probably wouldn’t.

Fritsch stays

But someone teaches him to kick straight

It’s in his head. Practices and hardly ever misses. Needs to talk to a psychologist about self induced pressure/stress. In his first year as a new player with no expectations  he hardly missed.

MB absolutely correct.

We have a 45/50 goal player in our midst just waiting like a flower in spring to develop.

When???

Next season if:

he followsTrac around and gets more physical body strength and belief Which will improve his tackling marking and ability to run more.

Straightens up his set shot kicking ( Its mainly in his head I reckon ) as his Technique  appears sound.

Maybe just maybe Fritta could go out and play with more enjoyment and not as if our whole forward line and team depend upon him ( which sometimes it does)

IMO we need a coaching assistant clean out as no change appears on the horizon with Goody but next year must be Finals and almost Top4.

Oh and his next contract He is ONE player that a FIVE (5) year term would not be stupid but Develop develop and develop please.

When I saw the headline I was going to label this the silliest thread on this website for a long time, but I've thought about it and it is in fact the stupidest, most f-witted thing I have seen.

I am not even going to go into the reasons except to note that picket fence thinks if a player does not dominate every minute of every quarter, and makes zero errors in a game that by its nature is played frenetically, then that player is no good or at least trade bait.

Silly. Stupid. F-witted and NFI.

No one and I mean no one should think that at some stage their name might come up in trade discussions. If the right offer came along I say hypothetically Dusty for Fritsch and a first rounder, you would say no?? Never say never in football trades!

But you aren’t saying fritsch for dusty are you?

You are saying fritsch for ?? You are happy to get rid of him for a second round pick.

we won’t get anything like a star player for him, or an early draft pick for him.

Either way, I rate him very highly and would be sceptical to get rid of him for a first rounder anyway! A proven player against an unknown.

Fritsch is a real talent but excrutiatingly frustrating with his kicking for goal. He appears to be so casual as if 'what the heck I'll just bang this up there'

His tackling needs a lot of work as well. To me he never tackles with intent. Not everyone can be a Viney but even Spargo who is small, when he tackles shows real intent  to stop the player.

That is not a reason to start a thread about trading him. And it's not what you initially said either.

Your position on Fritsch, like your position on most things, is untenable when you think it through even for a second.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
