On the captains run, Angus explained his injury, and yes i am no medical expert, but that sounds like a pretty horrific injury that he's got going? Mentions that it's in and around his Lisfranc which is what pretty much killed Jack Trengoves career.

With our history of significant foot injuries and most not able to get back to their very best, it makes you wonder we'll see Angus back to his 2018 form.

Have we been suffering these kinds of injuries more than other clubs? It certainly feels like it. Mitch clark, Trengove, Hogan, Viney, TMac now Angus. I'm sure there's others in there as well, maybe Dunn?

The lisfranc is an absolute crock of an injury to get over and has hampered a lot of good players medium to long term. I think Sloane a couple of years back was the most recent to really struggle with it. Daniel Wells missed nearly a whole season, finished Dane Swan's career and I think even Mitch Clark had troubles with it. It's been likened to a car crash injury, I don't know how severe Gus' is but hopefully it can be managed, does worry me though.

I thought trenners issue was the navicular? 

Clark had the lisfranc issues from memory..

What did Trengove in was the surgery being botched and the screw cracking the bone in his foot again, which was discovered when he was exploring Richmond as an option.

I think if that surgery had gone the right way, he would have had a chance of reaching his potential.

Nope. That's for plantar fasciiitis. Lisfranc injuries are known to have a huge impact on players performance, dane Swan a recent example. Gus said he should be training 2021 pre season but im doubtful

I was thinking lisfranc was that tendon they snap along the bottom of the foot when its a bone....  yeah Im an [censored].

That very uninteresting Open Mic with Trenners did seem to indicate that, I believe he said he was on the path to recovery and then when he did his medical with Richmond revealed the complications that had happened. That guy had such rotten luck. 

Fingers crossed this injury with Gus isn’t as serious as Mitch Clark’s (I have no idea whether there can be severity with such an usual part of the body). The good news is we have Burgess not Misson looking after him. 

I had the same injury a few years back and it’s horrendous.  1 operation to get it repaired with some metal put in and then another op a few months later to have it all removed. 
The recovery is torture as you are bedridden for the first 2 weeks and then cant weight bear for months. From what he said on the captains he would be back running by the start of the pre-season  but won’t be able to do anything prior to that which is going to put him back. 

Didn’t know he suffered this type of injury and am worried now. I expect him to have another down season in 2021 and fear we have seen his best already.

Hopefully it makes those who think Viney is dispensable rethink their position

From memory after Gus did it he was clear in saying it was ligaments in that area and not a broken bone. I know the two are joined, but if the bone is intact the outcome should look better, I would have thought. Does this sound right?

I'd like to hear what @Webber 's thoughts are on this. TIA

Yep. Quicker healing if it is purely just a ligamentous injury

I had been quietly blaming the sprinklers at Casey. I guess that doesn't fly in this case. 

Not worried... yet.

I'll wait and see how his pre-season and recovery goes before I start thinking the world is coming to an end.

Yeah. Can’t blame Casey or Gosh for this year. 

He will be listed at 4 to 6 which we know he means his career is finished 

Hopefully they get it right the first time. So many of our recurrent issues have been when they've deferred surgery and then rushed players back. At least Gus has time on his side to rehab from surgery, get it right and then get back to fitness.

And honestly it could be a blessing in disguise because  he's been slow and overweight for years now IMO.

Might be a chance to fully rebuild his body and mind.

If he returns with a frame like his younger brother he'll start playing better footy.
