Rivers for President of the United States

Don’t you want him to stay in Melbourne?  Could send Toby Greene to DC as POTUS - even he would have double the combined IQ of the contenders  ?

Any chance of the Hawks pulling off a hail Mary tomorrow?

I will feel disgusting, but will hope the Nawks win tomorrow.

Shame on you @dazzledavey and anyone else who wanted us to lose.

I might get upset with things at the club but always want my boys to win

Love Rivers and again Spargo showed his worth

?

There will be a few upset on here tonight.

Hats off to Nev Jetta.

Has Viney dropped his head?

Kudos to the boys.

Rivers was outstanding, and the future looks bright with Rivers, Jackson and Pickett.

Christian Petracca

19 contested possessions

...that is all

Also anyone notice their number 29?  If there is any chance he is available we should nab him.  He would greatly improve our run and delivery.

19 out of 22, thats gotta be some sort of record for % of contested possessions.

Great to see us back to playing with some flair and dash. I’ll accept the higher errors when you give that style a go. May and Langdon are immense. Trac and Oliver in particular refused to lose. However that’s a win for the role players Baker, Rivers, Koz, Spargo, Jetta did what they had to do. Let’s at least give ourselves a shake next week,.

Probably more chance the Dockers beating Dogs in the last round altho' in Cairns. Hogan to boot 8.

We won a tight contested game that mattered. That is a good result.

We play essendon next week.

Hope that gold coast can beat the filth.

Rivers should have been playing all year.

GO THE MIGHTY [censored] DEMONS! WHAT A WIN! ONE OF OUR GREAT WINS! SURELY RIVERS GETS THE RISING STAR NOMINATION WHAT A GAME. LANGDON RECRUIT OF THE YEAR. MAY BOG.GO THE MIGHTY DEMONS!

While he didn't hit the scoreboard, I thought Mitch Brown was good for us tonight.  13 touches and 7 marks and he got up the ground to give us a target as well.  His experience was on full display throughout this game.

Makes the decision to drop him last week for Preuss look even worse than it already did.

Jetta's attack on that contest in the last will be my lasting memory of this game - and the man himself.

I appreciate you Neville.

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
