Are we a chance for our lowest ever live television ratings today?

The demonland podcast live audience numbers might give it a nudge.

I for one will be watching it live. Cant wait.

My weekend will be a lot more peaceful not sweating on a match. And we only have to wait till Monday night for the next game!

I see there's a bit of MFCSS virus still lurking about Uncle.  Nothing a good Shiraz won't flush out!

I'd recommend giving it a fair shake well before the bounce.  Finished the remainder of my Wolf Blass grey off on the weekend PRIOR to the match and it worked a treat... anxiety quashed!

I shall certainly act on that advice Rusty

Nice leather seat option on the Range Rover there Northern!

Leather, an option! It is compulsory my good man. Air-conditioned leather is the option.

Have to admit the changes have left me a little flat and very uninspired.  Pickett out I understand first year player but he brings some level of excitement to our side, ANB is plain boring and offers little.  Smith, I think can play needs a period to adjust to AFL speed, Fritsch/Hannan same but different, Fritsch is a marking forward that can kick goals, Hannan offers a lot more on the defensive side, a lot less on the attacking.

Harmes/AVB both try hard, lack the decision making and disposal skills.

If we keep the Swans in the game, I'm worried that youthful confidence will beat us, they have a lot of talented younger players with some seasoned mids that can shut our midfield down.

Who would have guessed that after the Bulldogs game that we would be playing footy in SEPTEMBER.?

The least excited I've been about a Joel Smith inclusion since he joined the club. I feel as though he's purely in the side based on need and short turn arounds and less on his form in the practice matches/training. Either way I hope that means he has a good game.

Unfortunately for Joel the backline is pretty deep this season at the medium-tall back positions. This along with poor run of injuries has really stunted his development at AFL level. Looking for him to really show something with the opportunity tonight.

It’s a day for role playing and sticking to the system: working them over methodically and then going over them in the last quarter. Hopefully ?

One small step by the Demons ...

One LARGE step for DEMONLAND!

I think @willmoy is from up FNQ as well. Are you going mate?

Looking forward to those going keeping us up to date on this thread

Very interested to see how Tomlinson goes re pointed to the wing.

We are playing an injury depleted Sydney outfit. The only way we won't be ahead at the final siren, is if we are already ahead of ourselves.

It's fantastic that AFL and FTA partners consider Melbourne supporters are again more interested in 4.00 News  and The Chase on 7

Medical Emergency, Storage Wars, American Pickers on 7-2  or Graveyard Cars andBargain Hunt on 7Mate.

Wouldnt want to interrupt this essential viewing with a game unwatched by demon fans.

Of course everyone knows that Melbourne Football club members and supporters all watch their game on pay TV, sipping their whisky with their feet up in the ski lodge they drove to in their Jaguar.

Im missing the skiing but would have been able to interrupt the outdoor physical activity to watch it in the bar of Zirkys in any normal season.

It's back to the radio coverage here as of course no outlets (pubs)in our regional areas are open for business with the now luxury of any pay tv options.

Oh well at least we'll get to see them on TV on grand final day. Get there Dees

4:40pm on a Thursday! I just had to quickly block out the time in my work calendar so nobody sneaks a late afternoon meeting in.

I just want 4 points, and given our percentage is already healthy, I wouldn't be against managing a few players through the game if we are in a comfortable position. Tough 9 days coming up.

Are we winning the contest / clearance?  For a team that prides itself on this, we have sucked at this for many wee

It was unusual that the saints smashed us in centre clearances and we won. If we had dominated in this area we would have won by a big margin.

Im sure we will turn this aspect around today.

Have a ripper, non-Netflix time. Watch the Dees beat the Feathered Ones, what a dream. Pies, beer and football - nothing could be better.

But I don't drive a Jaguar. Other than that you nailed it.

PS. The snow is melting quickly.

I reckon we will have a down game over the last few rounds as we don’t have a bye and the short turnarounds and heat.

I will be impressed if we turn up and smack Sydney but I won’t be surprised if this is a slog. As least for the first three quarters

Is Kayo an option for you?  Or AFL live pass for a game by game option?

I feel your pain, I’m not quite sure how I survived before Kayo.  I remember having an AFL live subscription watching the games with my family huddled around my iPad.

Wasn't aware of this. Is it available on replays?

I'm having flashbacks of our loss to them in 2018, but I feel as though we've matured since then.

That was the last game Jesse Hogan played for the Demons.

The Swans can’t score and our defence is peaking, there’s no way we can lose this game. Sydney by 27.

Your predictions are the best.

Looking forward to a repeat of a Richmond like game from last night.

Irrelevant game unless we lose.

Had assumed it is a night game. Trade winds up north can be quite strong during the afternoon. Would hate to see a 4.11 score !!

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
