I don't 'hate' Oscar.. I don't hate any of our players. I've been blunt on some of his performance this year but I've also given him praise when it was there. I t said at the start of the week that while Oscar made poor errors on the weekend it wasn't a bad performance as some made out. Though I had him as an omission this weekend due to Sydney running with only 2 key forwards and imo i simply didn't see a match up for him. Goody and the coaching staff obviously do and I'll back them in.

Regards to the question I felt the reporter was trying to justify Levers good performance down to Oscar McDonald being in the side. I thought Lever answered well by saying that 'Don't want to have to keep Oscar out there for me to play well...' to me that says that while it's handy having Oscar there, both May and Lever have performed just as well without him.

It seems like they're now wanting to build some chemistry between Lever, May, Omac for the next few weeks.

I prefer Tomlinson as the 3rd tall and going off Tom Morris recent article it seems like coaching staff do for the future.

Tomlinson appeals to me on the wing, he's a runner and another spaceman.

Smith has got what it takes.

I recall against Geelong he was put on Hawkins ,switching to Dangerfield.

Pretty tough gig, almost set up to fail.

Yet we still only just lost that game.

Happy to see Smith get a run, If Goody is any good then he will tag Papley with Harmes! If Bailey Fritsch starts missing easy goals I will seriously be questioning his inclusion! I reckon he embodies MFC.. Downhill skier!

Prove me wrong son!

Good to see Vanders out, but disappointing to see another list clogger selected in his place in Smith. Definitely would’ve gone Lockhart instead.

Ins otherwise are good. Glad to see Fritta back as we need goal scoring power.

I believe they are trying to build consistency with the three talls in defence with May, Lever and Omac come finals time.  We'll need Oscar there. As Gawny mentioned a few months back "Omac was the best last defender, and organised the structures in defence". So I can see why he get's picked tonight.

I wouldn't be surprised if they put Jones back to go with Papley, allowing Harmsey to play the fwd/wing role. Jonesy is better at HBF than on the wing anyway. But i'm sure they'll rotate a few player on the Pap throughout the night with J.Wags, Smith and Jones.

Pretty happy with the lineup but I would prefer to keep Kozzie in the predicted greasy conditions. This is bread and butter for light small forwards.

Gawny and OMac are like best pals, he's always taking the [censored] out of him on his poddy, seems to be very aware of his below average footballing ability. Also everyone saying he has good 1on1 defending and disposal surely must be aware how slow he is mind and body. makes decisions like a sloth and got lucky v saints that his man didnt clunk a few more and kick straight.

and u cant be serious, papley would love this matchup jones would never catch him

I like Tomlinson back too, just thought you were being a bit harsh on OMac by saying Lever was "scoffing" at it when I think it was meant more as Lever saying he decides his own performance and doesn't want to rely on others.

Not sure I’d be relying on Hunt’s kicking out of the back half. It’s forward or bust for mine. Looks likely he’ll be wearing a different jumper next year.

Agree that with those outs Lockhart would’ve been a good in, but if Rivers can do the job on Papley we should get the chocolates.

Not sure we have a match-up for Papley, and he is the only real concern I have. If Jetta was in form I would trust his discipline and smarts. He has a natural goal sense and can change a game in a 10 minute period. Probably Harmes or Rivers.

Yes he would.

Lets just hope that Smith does not  (censored) it up in the back line or any other line he gets in the way. I am starting to question Goodwin's decision.  We are not in to carrying players for the sake of it.

Don't compare Smith with any other  on the playing list. he is miles behind.  And we want to play Finals ?   Will i be the only one stressing?

It has to be Harmes.  He is our best shut down player.  Even if he gets no stats of his own if he shuts down Papley he will have done his job for the team.

It could also be May given the surplus talls in our backline. He’d be a good match-up for Papley I reckon.

Important game for Harmes career wise. Half back role doesn’t suit him and Goodwin doesn’t like deploying a tagger. If he plays the defensive forward tomorrow I hope he makes a go of it. Otherwise I don’t see where he fits on our list

Lockhart must be injured. He was the obvious choice for Papley. That said if we stop the ball at source Papley won’t be a factor.

The Joel Smith experiment has failed so have no idea why Goodwin is persisting. If he plays down back that’s at least 2 goals you can chalk down for Sydney.

No sure if you are a Cairns supporter  but unless it rains it will not be greasy at 4.40pm nor at 6.30pm when finishing. Only 27 degrees tops and slight chance of a shower.

On Kozzie. He has had his chances and has not delivered. Time for him to get back to training and learn more of his craft. He will make it one day but is doing nothing for us at present

Lockhart should be in.

I look at the bench we have and know why we are no premiership threat.

I have said before you can replace 6 players with 6 players and you will end up with the same quality side.

I assume then you look at West Coast's bench of O'Neill, Nelson, Hutchings and Rotham and think "premiership material"?

Would of been perfect time to trial Hunt down back while Hibberd was out. Hunt plays best in defence.

He hasn't played defence for years.

Like TMac, he's a forward and that's where he'll play. Otherwise he won't be playing seniors.

Suit yourself... skills should be immaculate then. No fumbles, or slow congested footy. Lots of clean contested marks right? basically your saying it's no fault then our own if Melbourne loses to a injury riddled side yea?

I'd wait until tomorrow before you make that call. Harmes has been playing all year in defence and I have a feeling he'll be moved into a mid or forward position.

No I do not. I don't think they are atm premiership material but they have a couple more decent players missing than we do so your argument is slightly off kilter.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
