Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?

I wouldn't say on the way out, as the article just talks about his trouble getting into the 22, but you can see how they've added 2 and 2 to get 4 here.

On large coin until 2021.  Would the club look at him again if he became available?  You would doubt it, plus you wouldn't make a move until the end of next year so you could get him on a more reasonable contract.

It's such a shame the way things have gone for him.  He is a highly talented player who was capable of kicking 50 goals a season.  Now he can't crack an average Freo side.

I’d have him back. Talent like that doesn’t disappear.

I agree, but does he want it enough?

If Freo jumped off him after two years then you would have to question what is going on with him, especially considering that they gave up Pick 6 to get him.  He should be in the prime of his career right now and he can't get a game.  That has to be a concern.

I heard they’re playing him in defence at training, is there any particular reason for this? I’d be keen to know where is mind is at before looking at bringing him back.

Coulf be a Mitch Clark situation where the damage has been done.

Too true. Rough ride in life thats for sure. I suppose I forget at times that despite the fame and fortune most of these blokes are just young men under a great deal of stress , injuries and spotlights. Throw in family loss and cancer and this bloke has done it tough.

Id have him back but he's lost a lot of his value. I wonder sometimes if just going back and playing footy for fun at a lower level is the best way for some players to go.

Wish him the best wherever he goes.

It’s a concern and it would be buyer beware. But we know with Hoges that 95% of the battle is mental. He’s not a happy man up there and it’s showing. The lure of family and friends clearly hasn’t translated the way he may have hoped. He’d be in familiar surrounds at the club where he knows he has produced his best football.

Id be shocked to see it happen but acquiring Bennell was a shock and very unMelbourne-like so you never know.

would have him back happily, but i have zero idea how much baggage he comes with

when my mum told me that he was being 'trialed' as a defender for freo's b team during this hub life i thought that's the most pointless thing i've ever heard of; he's the most 'natural' key forward since hawkins, knows where to run, when to lead, how to position his body...playing a player like him in defence makes zero sense

it's not as if he's a first year forward and yr teaching him leading patterns etc - he was so good at that from the the get go, and such a great contested mark

loved watching him for the dees

Except his said shot at goal sometimes. One of those players who you didnt mind doing well at another club for some reason.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
