As if he would be mad enough to go to a rock bottom club?

You're getting tiresome.

Of course they are.  They'll be waving bags of cash at any footballer with a heartbeat and two working legs this offseason.

Papley by a mile

The Roos are no chance of securing him.

that surprises me as all the talk is they are going in to a rebuild

Would love both. Happy with either both bring something we lack.

Which is why they'll probably have salary cap to burn. They're pretty much pushing Brown out the door, who else is chewing up their cap? Over recent years they've offered big money to Dusty, Kelly and De Goey and have fewer veterans on their list each year.

maybe, but i don't think they will put a lot of that money into a big messiah deal, i think they'd rather use that money to pick a range of lesser players from other clubs until their new draftees get upto scratch. guy like zac won't want to be a club building from scratch, he's been there before and wants a crack with a club in or near the window

Neither.

Papley can win a game off his own boot, would much rather him at $800k than Williams

They are so desperate every trade period. Sad to watch really.

Yep. Would be very surprised if he landed anywhere other than Carlton. Need Tomlinson to get in his ear

Decent player but to me he seems like one of those players that have a couple Of good years moves clubs on big $$ then doesn't live up to it.

Officially exploring Free Agency.  Linked to North and Carlton.

Tom Browne saying he's pretty much a done deal to Carlton.

Good get for them.

Continues to surprise me how they always seem to target these players. They got Martin with a million dollar contract last year. Even with the retirees, they shouldn’t be able to afford him.

We absolutely need to nail this one more than a key forward. LJ and Pickett will grow next year and will be that much better.

Martin would not be on a $1m a year, he would be about $500 - 600k max

In 2020 Jack Martin was on slightly over $1m and was the 6th highest paid player in the league ahead of stars like Bontempelli, Dangerfield, Gawn etc. In future years his salary will be much lower as it was a front-loaded deal. Even front-loaded, it's still a poor deal IMO. He wouldn't be in the top 100 players in the league and is worth nowhere near what the Blues pay him now or in future.

As for Williams, he'd be a good get if the price was right. He had a good 2019 when he got more midfield time, but otherwise his career output has been hit and miss. He's likely not worth what he's going to get paid either. He's a 500-600k type player.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. He's a good player and, at times, a very good player but I'm not getting the huge hype. I know people talk about him moving into the midfield but I also don't see him as any more than a pinch hitter there.

  • GAMEDAY: Richmond

It's Game Day on Friday night. ANZAC Eve. The big stage at the ‘G. The Demons return to the spotlight for one of our most significant nights on the football calendar, taking on the Tigers in a clash that always carries extra weight given the gravity of occasion of the commemoration of the ANZAC Spirit. Under the lights, in front of a packed house, this is where moments are made. Can the Dees rise to the occasion and deliver on the big stage, or will Richmond spoil the night? All the build-up, discussion, and in-game reactions here. Go Dees.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.

From the outset, the Casey Demons lacked any spring in their steps. They were out-hustled and out-bustled and finally outplayed by the Brisbane Lions by 38 points on their home turf in perfect conditions at Casey Fields.
