It can't be a good sign when Preuss is being selected ahead of you and, when that doesn't work, Mitch Brown gets another run as well.

For what it's worth, I agree with the decision not to play him.  He is so far removed from the player he was in 2018 that it's quite sad.  I really thought he was going to hold down that position for years to come.  It seems almost unreal that two years on we're talking of trading him.

Agreed. Its not like he hasnt been given chance after chance in several different roles.

Uncanny how he was one of the best defenders going around and then magically moved forward where he became Coleman medal like as well as filling ruck duties.

Yet here we are with him on the outer and most of us talking about trade.

Tough gig this afl business.

Hell probably go somewhere and recapture his old form. ?

He costs a lot having him on the books.

Let's not forget that Tom tore the meniscus in one of his knees late last year, in the same game he kicked 6 in three quarters in the wet against Carlton. It was bad enough to require surgery apparently and end his season prematurely. If he's carrying just a little more weight than usual then the combination of the two could be causing him some issues.

Totally. i don't think it can be underestimated how a big the impact has been this year (and last season for that matter) not having tmac at his best. A case could be made that he is our most important player given our struggles to put a winning score on the board.

His importance has been amplified by the failure of Weideman to come on. Weed has been ok this season, but just ok. yes he has kicked some goals and competes pretty well in the air and creates contests. But if you look at his stats he is nest to useless once the ball hits the deck - he gets very few possessions, sweet FA tackles and has been putting almost no pressure on in these last few critical weeks.

To be honest the freo game was the final straw for me. After only having two possessions against the swans my expectation of him as our key forward was to go hell for leather. He trotted around like a player who didn't want to get hurt. Or worse like aplayer who had no care or passion for his club.

I don't ever recall saying this about a player but if it were up to me i'd trade him at seasons end. His trade value won't get any greater and maybe the pies want a Weideman at their club.

Weed has been quiet for the past couple of weeks because he isn't getting supply as we are getting beat up around the ball and our midfield and forward line are not working hard enough defensively.  Sort this issue out and we should comfortably beat GWS and Druggies who are both struggling.

Thta might be true. but that doesn't excuse not gut running or tackling.

His laziness is a big factor in the dockers being able to take the ball out of our back half so easily (having preuss as the other key forward didn't help either)

Has to go, his 2018 was like the clubs 2018.. an aberration, has hardly fired a shot since. I like Tom, i like all the players, but he is not the future, if someone offered a second rounder, the club would be derelict to not take it... he is lame and it may not get better, he isnt 21..

Gets rid of OMac as well. That is something well overdue. Tom did say in an earlier, influential,  'in form' stage of his game that if he is to play footy for the MFC, then his little brother must play/be selected as well - and that was quite a few years ago. Basically, no onfield OMac, then TMac will not play. Holding the Club to ransom, for how many years, how many losses, how many double=teamed teammates to cover so necessarily for OMac each game he plays? It all added up to a footy team with limited hope to improve, win games, keep its head above water - and not one coach / selection panel had the guts to do something positive about it. I've oft heard this repeated, but the first time I saw it was on these forums - do you (or anyone else) have a link to the original interview/report?

I’ve never heard this and find your statement that Tom said that incredibly hard to believe.

TMac and OMac, package for Ben Brown?  Interesting to ponder - not convinced Brown is the guy.

It's painfully obvious that the TMac 'I only play with my brother' myth is utter bull. It's staggering how often it's repeated on here. Imagine how that would go down with the coaches/ playing group?

It probably stems from a quote where he said something along the lines of: "Yeah it's great having my brother at the club, I'm really looking forward to running out alongside him" or similar.

I have an uneasy feeling that Goody thinks that Hooker IN / TMac OUT will solve our forward line issues.

Personally I think a goal-kicking small is a bigger need and I think Pickett’s future is further up the ground.  The more we focus on finding the mythical ‘quality mature tall’ the less we’re doing to get a Papley or Liam Ryan type in the door (nb I’m not suggesting I know how we get that type in the door just suggesting that solving for that is where our energy should be).

You can only trade someone who has value, right now he has close to zero. I want to know what the problem is. He has slowed substantially Why? You don't lose talent. Please tell us what is the problem.

I thought Mark Stevens was better than that. Absolute New Idea/Women’s Weekly trash.

I think the takeaway here is that TMac definitely should have taken the plates off and driven illegally in an unroadworthy car to show his loyalty to the Demons.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
