Awesome Football were dishing up to the supporters and sponsors, they must be over the moon.

We showed for periods of the game we were really competitive.

????????????

Give yourself a pat on the back Simon.

Cant blame umps  we are just turnover kings, our half forwards playing from behind.

And almost every other player.

It might be my bias but I don’t remember the last time Oliver wasn’t held a a stoppage

How can a select few of us (too many deniers on here) see it at every stoppage? It is so frustrating when soft calls are paid to the opposition.

Selection not looking great at the moment.

We drop Jetta for Sparrow, send Harmes into the backline where he has been a proven failure, and then put Sparrow into the middle who is nowhere near it, whilst leaving Brayshaw on a wing where he is no good.

Surely if we were going to free up centre bounce rotations for Sparrow, we could have made room for Brayshaw instead?

And then we bring TMac in for Bennell and TMac is somewhere stuck between trying to be a half-forward, a marking forward and a midfielder, and is none of them.

The skills in that last passage of play just before pt goalled were dog vomit. Especially from Oliver.

Like the use of "dog vomit" - no better way of describing it.

How does brayshaw continue to get games??? Yet Tomlinson was brought in for outside run & can’t get a game

Let's see how we respond in the second half. We can claw back 5 goals in the 3rd quarter if we play well. This isn't over yet.

Mate, we won’t kick 5 goals in the next 3 weeks

9 years to the day since 186 and we get served up that bile

Goodwin and Jones

Just go...

Reluctantly I have to agree. I've resisted accepting the calls for Goodies head. But if he doesn't make changes and can't get the charges up in the 2nd half, I'll need to rethink my support.

Jones is in the limelight of his career (a great career) but his time is nigh.

Clarkson is probably also gettable. Any of those 2 would be a hell of a lot better than what we have got.

Clarkson will come only for the bucks or if his ego makes him think he’s god and can work miracles.

How bad might we play when where mathematically out of finals contention. This is putrid when the season is on the line.

Why is Brayshaw not playing on ball ahead of Sparrow?

It's about time this paper team got a dose of reality!

Jones is finished.

T.McDonald can only play down back or trade him.

Salem needs to be traded.

Brayshaw must be traded.

Don't know what to do with Oliver? Just tell him to handball it.

Weideman must be traded.

Roos has [censored] us up the [censored]!

Picked the coach and Traded pick 2 for Salem and Tyson.

Add to that the poise and kicking skills that Bennell's omission robs us of.

Is there a forward apart from Fritsch that's got more than 2 possessions?

Weideman 1 (no marks), Hannan 1 (1 mark), Jackson 3 (no marks), Pickett 4, Melksham 4 (1 mark), TMac 4 (3 marks), Fritsch 6 (2 marks).

18 inside 50s for 1 mark inside 50.

How’s the server holding up? Good time for a stress test if you need to.

will be more fun than the second half

Well, that was a debacle. I’ve put a lot of our problems down to Goodwin previously, but this is down to effort, intensity and skill execution. Not even close to resembling our improved performance the last few weeks.

Anyone else feeling quietly confident about tonight's game?  I know that's not a normal feeling for Melbourne supporters as we probably have a closer relation to the feeling of dread, but I think we can knock these guys off.

You and I are really good judges If the dee Wise ???

Dees never stop continuing to disappoint.

Pathetic. There is no urgency tonight pure and simple. Skills are shocking. Pressure is shocking. Just pathetic all round

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
