There is no doubt how clever the technology is that shows ads on Demonland that reflect interests, concerns and likely sales opportunities.

An excellent example is this ad with a picture of my face showing my frown and worry lines that is featuring prominently on my game day thread (best i don't mention the others):

The mind boggles as to what kind of ads bbo recieves!

Really hard to tell what that bit of rain out West will do by the time it gets to the GC (if at all...).  Either way, think it's most likely to be fine most of the time...

Well your the man on the spot,  local knowledge  and all that, still looks like a band of rain but not that much after that, but it can change  Enjoy the game and barrack hard   Go Dees

I’m sure we will find out if it’s raining when we get there. ?

Considering BOMs record I’m sure we all have a chance of being right

if i'm any judge on the speed of the radar (doubtful) rain will hit the gold coast around the 2nd quarter ?

MFCSS kicking in strongly. Not confident.

Can’t see us winning this. We smashed Hawthorn who are proving to be a bottom 4 team and young GC side who are inconsistent. Let’s not get carried away.
Brisbane are the form side in the competition. Their back line will make it hard for our forwards and their mids are as good as ours and use the ball extremely well going forward.

I think we will lose by 5 goals. We are a borderline top 8 team. They are a top 4 team and my flag favorites.

I might change my tune in 5 hours, but Brisbane have had a pretty easy run so far, beating Adelaide and Freo, out of form GWS and WCE (we got them at the wrong time!) and being smashed by Geelong. All of their wins have been at the Gabba (except GWS ALat Giants Stadium). They did beat the 2nd place PA which sounds good, until you realise PA have basically beaten the same teams: GCS, Freo, Adelaide, Eagles and GWS (and stuck in against Carlton).

It week be interesting  see how they go against us, Collingwood, Richmond, saints and dogs.

Yeah, that rain band seems to be building as it gets closer.  Looks like we might get a bit in next coupla hours.  Hopefully it'll have passed well before game time...

(Since 10am this morning until just a few minutes ago it has been clear and sunny...!)  Starting to cloud up a bit now...

Don't discount the fun in a proper downpour being unleashed if that rain band hits the Gold Coast right as the temperature drops in the evening. Throw in just a little bit of backing up on the spot due to the heat island and one lucky push of wind back in from the coast at the right moment... Fwsooosh and only Gawn's eyebrows will be above the water line.

Tonight's the night, even the weather is going to be epic (as the kids say these days).

Yes, same here, I’m afraid. I think I shout at the TV either way. I realised last week that I ‘ride’ the team home, if they are winning, much like someone who has bet a $1000 on a horse!

Is this get game day thread or the weather channel?? ?

Such wisdom. I feel as though I should be trying to snatch pebbles from the palm of your hand.

We are getting very technical on the weather front.

Maybe the local Dees on the Gold Coast heading to the game can give us an update upon arrival and just before the first bounce.

estimate hit surfers in 45 minutes....more than a shower

At the end they highlight what a lot of us have been saying about Lockhart, hard running and shutting down options.

That's great vision of his run to cover McEvoy.  Something small but easily missed, and just an example of why they like having him in the side.

Going to be a slippery one, hopefully not too heavy on the track as we've got a quick turnaround this week.

Not raining at the NRL at Robina. Ground looks fantastic too.

A fantastic highlight of Lockhart's hard work.

Glad he's getting the rewards internally because he sure as hell ain't from some of the fickle supporters going around here.

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
